Three lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

They are Hon. Ajilesoro Taofeek Abimbola and Hon. Omirin Olusanya, both from Osun State as well as Hon. Marcus Onobu from Edo State.

Their notices of defection were conveyed through separate letters read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen at resumed plenary on Wednesday.

In their respective letters, the two lawmakers cited protracted internal crises, unresolved divisions within the PDP and the need to join President Bola Tinubu in repositioning the economy as the reasons for their defections.

The APC national secretary, Senator Suraj Ajibola, who hails from Osun State, accompanied by some other party officials, was present on the floor of the House to witness the defection of the lawmakers.

In his reaction, the minority leader of the House, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, asked Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to comply with constitutional provisions and declare the seats of the defectors vacant.

Responding, Hon. Abbas, who presided over the plenary, merely told the leader of the opposition that his point of order was noted.

The illiterate INEC / Judiciary appointed Governor who cannot read & write properly threatened to demolish his house and two weeks later he defects to APC ! After everything PDP for him - making him Speaker of House of Assembly & also getting to Reps- shameless coward !!!

Honestly if I have my way in this country, nobody should be allowed to decamp from the party that gave he or she the platform to be in any elective position until after the 4yrs he or she was elected. How can party A B or C sponsor and campaign for you to be where you're and after about 1 or 2yrs you will now jump ship to another party that didn't labor for your emergence.
Anyways it's not their fault, it's we the electorate that will just be looking like zombie instead of making sure that person doesn't return to that seat again by voting them out.

It is mostly politicians with active portfolios that are defecting to the APC.
