UK- Based Ebonyi Business Mogul, Zubitech Global Demands Renaming Of Streets Bearing Anambra Names In Abakaliki πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

A Concerned Ebonyi Indigenous Group in Diaspora (EIGD) led by a United Kingdom based Ebonyi-born Business Mogul, Azubike Daniel popularly known as Zubitech Global has petitioned the Ebonyi State government under the leadership of Francis Nwifuru to rename some streets in Abakaliki, the capital city of the state bearing Anambra related names.

This outburst is coming after the Anambra state government recently renamed a major street in Anambra State formerly known as 'Abakaliki street' to 'Club street'.

The government in defense stated that the renaming was necessary after the street massively developed over the years and currently houses different club houses, hotels and other recreational centres.

The Anambra government would go ahead to change every sign post, numbering and tag bearing Abakaliki street to Club street signalling that the renaming was serious and immediately effective.

However, Chief Peter Uzodinma who happens to be the man that named the street as far back as the 1950's cried out over the renaming stating it as a move to waste his efforts from old as one of the few people who built Anambra state to the level it is currently.

Chief Uzodinma who hails from the Izzi Local government area of Ebonyi state narrated how he moved to Anambra state in the 90's and purchased a land which has now developed into the Abakaliki/club street.

According to him in an interview with newsmen, the land which he purchased decades ago was empty and bushy but he insisted and lived there with his family from whence he did all the jobs he did back then to survive while he maintained the land.

The elderly Chief further noted that he decided to name his then house and now fully occupied street in Anambra after Abakaliki because it is where he comes from.

However, the state government seems to have taken a stand while some residents of the state and in the street have shared their thoughts on the renaming.

While some vote against the development, others are taking sides with the government stating that the renaming was necessary.

One resident said; "I feel the renaming was necessary because when people hear Abakaliki street, they would probably see the street as occupied by classless individuals, but the renaming to Club street clearly identifies that the street is full of clubs and anyone who wants to come around would know they'll meet a lot of club houses."

Another resident said; "I feel the renaming was necessary because the street is not only occupied by Abakaliki people but the man who named the street should be compensated."

A male resident stated that; "The renaming is not an impressive development because that man must have worked very hard to maintain the land and the least the government can do is let the street retain the name to crown his efforts and have him understand that they appreciate him."

Meanwhile, the Indigenous Ebonyi group led by the Business Mogul, Zubitech Global has petitioned the state government insisting on them to immediately rename streets it named after Anambra state including;

1. Awka Street
2. Onitsha Street
3. Abangana Street
4. Aniekwena Street
5. Oraifite Street
6. Umuoji Street
7. Odinukwe Street
8. Nsugbe Street
9. Afoezuna Street
10. Awkuzu Street
11. Nteje Street
12. Abatete Street
13. Nnobi Street
14. Emeofo Street
15. Udemezue Street
16. Obiri Street
17. Umuchu Street
18. Aniekwe Street
, etc.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the group's chairman, Zubitech Global said what's is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

The business Mogul also recounted how the people of Anambra state have continually underrated and hated them from time immemorial.

Zubitech Global had to recount the killing of no fewer than 13 Ebonyi Indigenes in Anambra State less than 2 months ago.

According to him, "Anambra indigenes have always had the idea that they are superior to Ebonyi Indigenes inculcated in them from little."

Also, many have recalled how they were bullied, underrated and maltreated in Anambra State as residents and/or wherever they found themselves dealing with them.

Therefore, Zubitech Global alongside other indigenes are insisting that unless the street in Anambra State retains its original name 'Abakaliki street', all streets in Abakaliki that were named after Anambra in anyway must be changed.

Okay. Let's see how this would go. Those that have over reacted about other places, let's see what they have to say about this
Re: Group Demands Renaming Of Streets Bearing Anambra Names In Abakaliki by Kingosytex(m):
The hatred an average Anambra man has for his Ebonyi counterpart is legendary, it's so visible that the Anambra man makes jest and mockery of his counterpart at every given opportunity.

If you visit let's say Onitsha and introduce yourself as an Ebonyian, you don buy market be dat grin
You would be subjected to all manner of mockery, derogatory words will be thrown at you as if you have done something wrong__your only crime is being an Ebonyian.
They will mock you and tag you 'Nwa Abakeleke' grin everybody is from Abakeleke. Their ignorance won't allow them to understand that not every Ebonyian is from Abakeleke same way not every Anambrarian is from Awka.

A whole lot of places especially in the metropolitan areas in Onitsha don't rent out their houses again to Ebonyians yet, they all claim to be Igbos.
They are very angry and annoyed and even questioned why an Ebonyi man (Ekpa) should be the one spearheading Biafra's agitation in the absence of Kanu.
The truth here is that they see an Ebonyi man as way below them. An Anambra man might give up Biafra just because an Ebonyi man is the champion.
If there should be anything like Biafra, there would be a terrible implosion. It would be a clash of egos, what is being witnessed in Nigeria might be a child's play because the 'timid' Ebonyians as referred to by Anambrarians are waking up and won't just allow anyone to bully them. I don't think an Enugu man will allow that too, neither will an Imo or Abia man.
There would be a clash of interests.

What are they still waiting for? They should do quick and rename them fast fast. I don't understand the obsession that these Ebonyi people have with Anambra. Anambra and Ebonyi don't even have anything in common be it natural boundaries, origin, language etc. And the truth is that Ebonyi are not really Igbos. You will confirm this when you listen to their strange language that sounds more like Hausa and nothing like Igbo.

This is Igbo to Igbo, how will I expect an Igbo man to love and respect another tribe when what they do to themselves is obvious.

If this is proposed in another region, most especially the land they allegedly develop, there will be sit-at-home for 1 full month.

Nansense. To justify their evil deeds in Lagos State, they had to pay this hungry man in Diaspora to create division between Anambra and Ebonyi people.

The name Club road is more befitting given the array of clubs and other entertainment venues in that area. The new name is here to stay. Even Google Maps has also effected the name change in their App. Ebonyi state government can go ahead and do whatever they want but they should be careful about blowback due to the large number of Ebonyi indigenes who have taken refuge in Anambra state both in urban and rural areas.

That's the problem in Igbo land. We always read negative meanings to issues that are not relevant. Instead of thinking on how to develop, Ebonyi State, you are fighting for change of street names on the instance of one street renamed. The worst is that this idea is coming from one in diaspora.
Let's be wise in all our reaction to issues please
