JuanDeDios:Why did he do it? Dem force am to become king in the first place? If he wanted to be buried as Muslim why didn't he apply to be an Moslem leader like Chief Imam? Let's call a spade a spade. We must start respecting our forefathers. They are not dummies. |

Max24:Well, it's ok not to get it. Those who do appreciate what his majesty did. He has started a trend. Let's hope it catches on so that our traditions can be saved. For if we don't reform our traditions to stop bad things, we run the risk that our children will throw everything away. Those who think we should hold on to backward practices that belong in 1456 can go form their own bush kingdoms. But one day, their kids will still challenge them there. |

So why do are they called 'traditional: rulers? Of course they're only there to cater to traditional institutions...Oluwo Akanbi is not a serious person, I'd be ashamed to call myself an Iwo indigene because of him |

I disagree with this Oba. When in Rome, one must behave like a Roman. The Oba is the custodian of the traditions and gods of the land. If you cannot act as the custodian of the gods, you should never become an Oba; the same applies to tradition. |

JuanDeDios:Have the British done away with their monarchy and rules for the Royal family members despite civilisation? Didn't Harry opt out because he didn't want to be bound by monarchy rules. If you know you don't want to be bound by rules opt out of Obaship. It's not by force. |

It is wrong to be eating Oba's heart all in the name of Tradition ... If the Tradition is sure , they should teleport to the Federal Reserve in New York and move all the Gold in the vault to Nigeria. |

Max24:Who says you should do away with your monarchy? I'm telling how to preserve it so that it can last you're going off on a tangent. The British modernised their monarchy, and they're still modernising it every day. They're not running it with ancient backward practices - that's why nobody is calling for its abolition. Adapt or perish. |

Max24:Define culture! If you can't, get the definition from a dictionary. culture is the way a group lives. The way we live now is our Culture! If you want to hold on to the past, why not seek the continuation of slavery? Or was that not our culture once? Or human sacrifice? That statement that "the only constant thing is change" refers to culture! Culture is meant to change, expected to change! Culture must continue to evolve with time! Worshipping idols used to be our culture! Most of us are no longer traditional worshippers. Our culture has changed! Accept it!!! |

This particular king has denigrated the throne a hundred times. This is what happens when you put people who don't know their culture and traditions on the throne. Imagine a king in Saudi Arabia sidestepping his own traditions and culture to take up the Yoruba or Igbo culture |

Thanks to RCCG, gradually many 1st class Obas are now Redeemed pastors. Very soon, Ifa worshippers will lose their unfair ring-fencing oba stools to themselves and ogboni members alone. KINGSHIP DOESN'T BELONG TO ONE RELIGION ALONE. |

mfm04622:So, our own is idols according to white man indoctrination but their own is true God. Use your sense, pal. Whites and Arabs branded their God as the true God and called yours the fake God and you still accepted it even after giving you education. You need to emancipate yourself. |

StaffofOrayan:It's part of it except you're not realistic but lying to yourself. You can't discard the one that doesn't suit you and insist others don't discard their own. When you discard killing, beating, and other humiliation. Allow others also discard burial. Simple. |

Max24:Are you okay at all? Is emancipation the worship of trees, rivers and statues you and your neighbors made? Why are you using phone and internet by the white man? You should have emancipated yourself by using the town crier still. |

dayo8080:In Rome, they used to have barbaric games and entertainments. It has now been replaced by the common and modern Olympics. They don't continue barbaric behavior to 'behave like Romans'. They once had a "Christian Constantine Caesar" who christainized his whole kingdom. |

fmlala:You are not a Christian. The King is the custodian of the Yoruba culture, not the custodian of Yoruba religion (Yoruba religion does not exist). Any indigenous yoruba man can become a King in his domain. Whether you're an atheist, Christian, or pagan shouldn't matter. If you want to rule your religion, go and become a priest or attend the equivalent of a Bible School in Ifa shrine and leave the throne for people who are ready to serve the people, irrespective of their religion. A King does not serve the same role as a Pastor or Imam. This should be common sense. |
