I don't follow your logic at all!😏

If there are no signs of foul play in the case that the girl was a girlfriend or acquaintance, what legal troubles could come from that?😐😐😐
^^^
Some of the reasons for these legal troubles were addressed in earlier posts.

In countries that work, there won't be legal trouble if foul play isn't suspected - whether the deceased is a wife or a girlfriend (we are putting moral arguments about extra marital or pre-marital sex aside for now). But in this country, a distinction will be made by the police - for reasons that have already been stated.

It is what it is.

Yes, if I read you correctly. The police will abuse their power/authority and eat the man raw.

But this abuse of power by the Nigerian police is not limited to possible homicide cases. So? huh

But in a country where things work is it supposed to be like that? A quick autopsy will declare the guy innocent and he goes free. But Nigeria they'll first take him to prison for 6 months before autopsy. It should be very simple. Someone dies in your house, you're detained, an autopsy is done, you're charged of murder or released.

No it isn't. Their abuse of power covers all areas. But since the topic is death of an adult female while in the company of an adult male, that's what most responses on the thread have focused on.

Not in Nigeria, sad but true.

So, the problem then isn't the identity of the deceased but rather abuse of power? So, why suggest that there exists a difference in whether the woman in question was a wife or girlfriend, or stranger? huh

If your wife dies abroad, you think they will just lock you up? They will bring you in for questioning and let you go home but with travel restrictions. An autopsy would be conducted almost immediately. Once the result confirms it wasn't murder, you would be allowed to walk.

So sickening. Even Jewish influencers and cr_azy European disinformationists are using this forum for brainwashing. Probably using it to train AI also.

Absolute rubbish talk that can only come from a shameless outfit. So, what if a man dies in your house? He can help you then?

she can die in 20mins after entering your house
The chances of that happening is very slim compared to her sleeping over. Let's just say the longer she stays the higher the chances of such happening. I seriously don't advise any guy to allow a gal sleep over in his place. I have done that in the past and couldn't sleep all through the night. It's too risky especially in this country.

Its a profound shame, my brother. The country has become a cesspool of idiots who grab at any opportunity to make money.

A girl dying in a man's house, doesn't necessarily mean the man murdered her. Okay bro, that's for rational thinking Nigerians, but heck, you and I both know Nigeria is almost now devoid of rational thinking people.

If such a scenerio plays out. The police will frustrate the living day light out of the man. Engineer the girls family in other to use it as a ruse to get money out of the man, even if they know the man is innocent, they still won't burge. They will extort the man and his family and when they're tired of milking the man and his family, they will now push the case to court. Even if there is no prima facie case and no actus reus mens ria, they will still charge the matter to court.

Our police are a bunch of hungry, wild looking hyenas, who feed on themselves without even giving a damn! All they care about is, as long as they make money, they're fine and okay.
Very unfortunate. People should learn to sue the police for malicious prosecution. And the courts should do their job as Magistrates should inspect detention centres as mandated.

Trust me bro, people do. I've dealings with some human right activists. What the police normally do, is play on people's ignorance. They believe people don't know there rights, and even if they do, lack the capacity (money) to sue them. That's why they behave the way they behave.

Money is now the focal point of everything in Nigeria, bro. Lawyers who are suppose to take up people's case of unlawful arrest ad detention, will charge you hundreds of thousands of Naira, just to write a petition, the money doesn't even include legal fees and the likes. It's among the reason the Police is misbehaving.

The courts won't ever bother about inspecting detention centres. The day they do, many policemen will find themselves replacing many detentee. grin

Yes.... It's easier to explain than a random girl or even your girlfriend dying in your house.

Unless there have bn controversies surrounding a man or his wealth, that is when it will look a bit hard for him to explain the death of his wife.

For random girl or his well known girlfriend, even if her parents know that she has terminal sickness and unfortunately she die in her boyfriend's house, the guy don't enter into big sh!t.

Even if she died in the road coming or leaving your house, you'll still have questions to answer, if her phone log shows that you're the last person she visited or invited her to come.

very well spoken. Until the people ruse up in consciousness and knowledge, the evil of this people do will continue to ride and not abate.

Even the magistrates, the most corrupt place in the judiciary, should be monitored.

We get locked up for life after An autopsy has been carried out and the result confirms she died from natural causes right?

If that happens to you, e don be for you be that. Woman no dey sleep for my house now after I saw what one guy went though when his girlfriend who suffered epilepsy died in his house. The girl family denied that the girl did had any any illness, that the guy killed their daughter. The guy died in police custody while suffering and the useless family later agreed that their daughter was epileptic.
This only shows that Nigeria is a failed contraption govern by incompetent educated illiterates. A simple post-mortem examination would have resolved that case within a short while.

If you get locked up in that case, then know that it is the fault of your village people and not because you did anything wrong, at least! grin

If there is no evidence linking you directly to the death, and you are still being pushed as the culprit, then sue the officers for fraud. undecided
