Senator Victor Umeh (Anambra Central) threw his weight behind the borrowing plan, expressing satisfaction with the long-awaited investment in southeastern infrastructure.

We dey borrow for Naija sha. Ahhahn!!! See money! Billions of dollars. The way our country borrows, one would think we don't generate any source of income.

Some senators and contractors will be praying for the loans to be approved on time because its payday for them.

Everybody can see how much this government wants to invest in power. We don't want to hear any excuses come 2027 about how/why electricity isn't constant ooo.

If we borrow all these monies, what then are we using the money generated from the crude oil for? So our abundant resources doesn't mitigate or contribute to any deficient in FG fiscal responsibility? Who is running this country! WHAT A SHAME!

Are these not the same loans that Reno Omokri, the rabble-rouser, told us were merely approved by the Senate to be borrowed, but not necessarily borrowed by Tinubu and that he may not even borrow them to avoid plunging the country into needless debt?

Nonsense and ingredients
Re: Projects Tied To The Recent Loan Request Sent To The Senate By President Tinubu by VeeVeeMyLuv(f):
The loan is actually an avenue to divert these foreign currency dollars $ and pounds £ that they would waste on the 2027 elections

It Is not for any development!

What a pity! Very sad.

Everything they vilified Buhari for, they have done 10 times worse of that with no tangible results to show.

Sounds like you are coursing your country, how about you say you hope it’s not the type of loan that they will take and the project will not see the light of the day?

Pls let’s stop wishing the country bad with our actions & inactions

Borrowing not bad but the execution. I like how CCEC under Buhari executed many capital projects on time. But giving to contractors cash in phases which Tinubu has not cleared is the main issue 🤔🤷.
President Shehu Shagari had the highest capital projects followed by President Buhari (civilian) in the history of Nigeria 💯📌👌

The coastal highway is going to end up as the biggest scandal of this government. The problem is purely from the funding (highway to corruption), Tinubu should turn that contract to a foreign direct loan execution so that southerns won't forget him. We all know Hi-Tech are paddy paddy company and the next president will stop the project.

Nigerians are Nigeria's problem.
They tax you, you complain.
They borrow loan, you complain.

So the development you are praying for, where is it going to come from? Will it just fall from the sky?

At least, you can see that the loans are tied to infrastructure; roads, rail and power, even ports.

I think one unofficial spokesman for TYRANT regime says, it's just a plan borrowing and not actual loan.

I have counted 10b dollars in that list before I stopped reading.
Re: Projects Tied To The Recent Loan Request Sent To The Senate By President Tinubu by ZeemsPropeties: 7:52am On Jul 25, 2025
Infrastructural development is mostly tied to loans with a repayment because the interest it yields is show over a long period of time and there is no need to tie up cash for such a period of time.

Even Dangote borrowed to finance the refinery. Financing infrastructure isn't stupid, it is the recommended path.

Let us not rush to condemn everything.
Re: Projects Tied To The Recent Loan Request Sent To The Senate By President Tinubu by oyeb15: 7:52am On Jul 25, 2025
Is our external reserve even up to $28 billion dollars as at now.
Tinubu want to plunge Nigeria into decades of debt servicing. All he want to use d $ for his reelection and if he doesn't win, all is gone already.

Are there no opposition senators in that red chamber again. This is very serious.

Any institution that borrow these people such amount does not want the development of Nigeria.

Borrowing is not the problem but what you do with it. If the implementation of these programmes are monitored and corruption free, it is a good loan that will improve infrastructure and aid human development and in the long run, the country will be better for for it. But if not and the usual corruption ridden system is allowed to fester and judicious use of the loan is not monitored it is like pouring water in a basket and poor Nigerians will be worse off.

Anyways, I thought Reno said

For the avoidance of doubt, President Bola Tinubu is not about to borrow $21 Billion. The MTEF contains the borrowing plan for both the Federal and State Governments for the next three years.

In other words, the $20.5 billion is what the Federal Government and the 36 states can borrow over the next three years.

That amount is not what they will borrow. The $20.5 billion is what they can borrow should the worst become the worst. They are not even likely to take those loans. It is just a framework for what is possible.
