Just say no to GMO
Selective breeding and genetic modification are markedly different.

I'll share an analogy.

A handsome man meets a beautiful woman. They birth a gorgeous baby. That's selective breeding.

A handsome man meets a beautiful woman. They birth a gorgeous baby. Then a geneticist starts splicing and manipulating the baby's DNA to say make their limbs longer or change the color of their eyes/hair or suppress a gene associated with a chronic ailment. That's genetic modification.

Before 2020, I had a thin sliver of respect for objectivity in Western science.
After 2020, I realized that objectivity can be subdued by overarching interests.

Thanks to my academic background, I can acknowledge the promise of genetic engineering.
However, I will NEVER be in favor of a foreigner dictating or controlling the food supply of a native population.
That makes every Western campaign to force through GM adoption in Africa dead on arrival to me.
Until such a time we become advanced enough to conduct biotechnology experimentations and appraise its risk-reward ratio ourselves, all initiatives to introduce it must be shot down.

Anyone who tells you we need GM to solve the food crisis in Africa is lying to you.
If they can lie about something that fundamental, the rest of their spiel must be discarded as potentially nefarious.
The Netherlands was already a food basket before GM biotechnology became a thing.

Rwanda banned second-hand clothing to revive its domestic textile industry.
The US responded by threatening to remove Rwanda from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) preferential trade agreement.
As a matter of national security, you must never allow yourself to be in a position where the US, or any foreign power, has an ounce of control over your food supply.
If you're educated and in favor of that, return your certificate.
I do not need to appease anyone or tolerate their "geopolitical interests" to plant pumpkin leaf. I prefer things stay that way.

Every improvement or advancement will eliminate problems but also introduce their own.
So it’s an unending circle?

Roland17:
You will read my subsequent post where I am encouraging the question(s) and that is the approach an influencer like Aproko Doctor should have done. He did not approach the conversation correctly and ended up confusing people more. Aproko Doctor should have approached the conversation from a point of complimenting food production versus the natural thought of eliminating organic food production.

Humans over the centuries have evolved and as we evolve, everything about us evolve so we can adapt to the environment. Level of modification depends on the advancement in science and technology and truly understanding what goes into commercial food processing. Food processing at its commercial stage in Nigeria is already modified, irrespective of the level. Even here in the US, no one forces you to buy GMO foods, if anything, they clearly marked as GMOs/ Organic and you make a choice which you want.

GMO is not a novel invention, the issue is that we haven't discussed it and that is the power an one of the advantages of SM. Social media evokes conversations about every and anything.

Now, in 2025, it has become a strong conversation in Nigeria, we can talk about the advantages, disadvantages but more importantly correct false narratives that associate GMOs to Obesity, Cancer, Autism (or any form of intellectual disability), Dementia, HBP and other health related diseases. This is the angle that puts fear in people and when a Medical Doctor approaches a vastly broad conversation like that unprepared, he is set to cause more confusion.
Exactly, Aproko doctor in the video made it seem like it’s only advantageous to us given his contrary stance on the issue a while back, so people had to form their own narrative

If not that Nigeria is a useless country that has allowed incompetence and terrorism flourish should Nigeria even be in GMO conversations?

States like Benue, Taraba, Niger, Jos alone can feed the entire country and export out to others

If say I be God all Nigeria prayer line go dey blocked tongue

Obi and his supporters are frauds. If he can't stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his peers and win a proper primary, he should forget about this presidency talk. Nobody becomes president by dodging primaries and waiting to be handed the ticket like it’s charity.

Nigerians are boxed into a corner, either vote Atiku or watch the country slide even deeper into chaos. Because let’s be honest, another four years of Tinubu might just be the final nail in the coffin. I’m not even sure Nigeria can survive it.

This is the crux of the whole saga

It is wholeheartedly disappointing for Africa (Nigeria my country) to depend on external for her seed supply.

We are next to doom even when there are readily replantable seeds, let alone on the mercy of foreign non-rpelantable seeds/crops

Enyimba Football Club is both disappointed and dismayed by the recent public outburst made by former player, Brown Ideye, whose comments not only distort the truth but also seek to unjustly tarnish the image of Nigeria’s most successful football club and by extension, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

At a time when the NPFL is undergoing commendable transformation—gaining both regional and international respect—we find it deeply unfortunate that a former Nigerian international, who was welcomed back home with open arms, has chosen to malign the very system that embraced him.
Brown Ideye’s return to Nigerian football was heralded as a symbolic homecoming.

Despite the coach’s initial reservations, our management chose to extend an olive branch to a former Super Eagles striker, treating him with the dignity his pedigree deserved. During his stint, he was accorded VIP privileges, including:

A monthly salary of ₦1 million, making him one of the club’s highest earners,
Luxury hotel accommodation at ₦65,000 per night,
Air travel to away games—privileges not extended to many others,
Personal respect and access befitting his profile as a top-level ex-international.
These claims apart from being verifiable was awash in the media space and was widely analysed on “NAIJA-MADE” sports programme, SuperSports tv before and after his unveiling.

Unfortunately, rather than repay the club’s goodwill with leadership and professionalism, Ideye fell short—both on and off the pitch. Scoring only five goals across all competitions, his impact failed to match the expectations of his signing. Even more worrying was his divisive influence in the dressing room, which reportedly undermined team cohesion and progress.

Now, in a regrettable and self-serving attempt to rewrite the narrative, Mr. Ideye has leveled baseless allegations against the club and the league. His claims of poor player welfare are grossly misleading. Under the leadership of Chairman Kanu Nwankwo, Enyimba FC has instituted a transparent and consistent bonus structure, with players often receiving double bonuses for wins, as well as personal incentives from management—sometimes as much as ₦1 million.

It is simply unacceptable that a player who benefited immensely from the goodwill and structure of this great club would seek to tear it down in the public eye, especially when he never raised these issues while collecting VIP wages and privileges. His silence while enjoying these benefits speaks volumes about the motivation behind his sudden crusade.

This is a time when former Nigerian players returning home should be encouraging others to contribute meaningfully, not discrediting the platform that gave them a second chance. Brown Ideye’s conduct is not only unbecoming of a professional but a betrayal to the principles of integrity and gratitude.

To our fans, stakeholders, and the NPFL family: we assure you that Enyimba FC remains committed to professionalism, reform, and the growth of Nigerian football. This incident, while regrettable, serves as a lesson. We will not be deterred by noise or revisionist agendas. The People’s Elephant will continue to march forward with dignity and pride.

See as Emyimba broke, boasting about paying a whole Brown Ideye £450 per month. Did Ideye say he needs that money?

5 star N65k per night hotels? grin grin

I blame Ideye for submitting himself to the myopic judgement of a poor man when he didn't need to.

Just like Bill Gates submitting himself to the judgement of an anti-polio Cleric in the North who can't spell his own name, or a repeated failure like David Hundeyin
