A young man has taken to social media to appeal to activist VeryDarkMan, pleading for help in providing a borehole for their community in Nkalagu, a town in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

He lamented the severe lack of clean water in the entire village and showed viewers the dirty river water that most residents rely on—especially those who cannot afford to buy sachet (pure) water.

Pouring out his heart, he revealed that he also drinks from the same river whenever he cannot afford to buy water. He grew up drinking from that river and stated that since birth, no government has ever considered giving them a borehole. He expressed disappointment, especially since the community has had representatives like Senator Joseph Obinna Ogba—who hails from the same village and served in office for eight years—yet no water project was ever implemented.

The young man also filmed a nearby water project signboard and some tanks around the river, which he claimed have never worked. He alleged that although the project might have been awarded on paper, the funds were likely diverted due to corruption, and the water system was never completed. He added that on radio, the public is often told the community has been given water—but in reality, the people are still suffering.

He passionately appealed to VeryDarkMan, saying even if just one borehole can be constructed, it would go a long way. According to him, only VeryDarkMan can help them, adding that even if they called on the current governor, he wouldn’t respond.

Interestingly, David Umahi, the former governor of the state, is now the Minister of Works under the current APC-led federal government.
