How much did Morocco invest in the first place? I wouldn't be surprised if it is much less than the yearly budget of some of their big clubs.
Again, Morocco is just one of 52 countries.
No one really care about female football.
Nigeria is always great at things no one else cares about.
Ok

We actually do very well at the world stage on all levels if you really have been following female football world wide since in the past.
I don't agree with you, i think we ought to be better, and i think that's only possible if the competition becomes very tough.....how well did african teams do in the last world cup?

Maybe other African countries don't think it's that important.
i assume so too, i know if the competition becomes very tough and competitive, it would give room for improvement amongst african teams generally

I agree with you. African countries need to do better. The truth is, Nigeria is not doing badly but needs to improve.

There are only two nations in Wafcon, Nigeria and the rest.

Even if Nigeria did not win again, I don't see any country bearing this record in the next 20yrs
Same way it's difficult for any club to match the Champions League record of my beloved Real Madrid
Hala Madrid 🤍🤍🤍

Where is equatorial Guinea today? I think they said that they are mighty because they recruited Nigerian girls to their team then, today they are nowhere to be found.

4 August 2016

Equatorial Guinea have been banned from the next three editions of the Africa Women Cup of Nations for fielding a player using fraudulent documents.

In April, Fifa ruled that Camila Maria do Carmo Nobre de Oliveira was found to have used two passports with different birth dates and two birth certificates.

It then expelled them from 2020 Olympics preliminary qualifying.

The Confederation of African Football has now penalised Equatorial Guinea over the same issue.

Caf said on its website, external that it acted after a protest by Mali, who lost 3-2 to Equatorial Guinea in the final round of the Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Camila Nobre do Carmo Oliviera featured in the first and second leg matches on 6 April and 10 April.

Following an investigation, Caf found the player in question was "registered for the Women AFCON Namibia 2014 as Camila Maria Nobre Carmo with date of birth: 07/10/1994 and for the 2016 edition, her date of birth stated 10/06/1988 and the name Camila Nobre do Carmo Oliviera".

The Equatorial Guinea Football Federation admitted that it is the same player.

Caf said: "The sanction by Fifa proved that Equatorial Guinea was guilty of fraud due to the different information relating to the identity of the player."

And African football's governing body concluded that "the participation of player Camila Nobre do Carmo Oliviera with Equatorial Guinea in the two matches against Mali is considered illegal".

Mali will replace Equatorial Guinea in the final tournament of the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations, which will take place in Cameroon from 19 November to 3 December.

Since the inaugural WAFCON tournament in 1998, only three nations; Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and South Africa, have lifted the coveted Women’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
Nigeria has been the dominant force in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) since 1998, a reign they emphatically reaffirmed with their latest victory.
In a dramatic final held on July 26, 2025, the Super Falcons staged a stunning comeback, overcoming a two-goal deficit against hosts Morocco to clinch their record victory. This historic win, with a final score of 3-2, further solidifies Nigeria's status as the queens of African women's football. Let's look into the winners of Africa's most prestigious women's football tournament.
Even Covid 19 won WAFCON before Ghana grin

We only do well at youth level.

We still have a long way to go at senior level. Don't let the last goaless draw against England deceive you. We still can't put passes together to the standard out there. Our ranking is far below 30

Congratulations again to the super falcons. But hey, did anyone notice the cold body language between the CAF and FIFA President during the medals/trophy award ceremony? No love lost between the CAF and FIFA President

The consistency is worth mentioning but the gap is gradually being closed up by other countries whose women football are also waking up

We have to translate this dominance to the world stage and it's going to be a massive work for any coach to do

Congratulations girls!
which gap is being closed up? It would take any other African country over a 100 years to match or even suppassed that record.

First of all let me say a big congratulations to the super falcons for once again being the African champions where they have no equals.
But I have a grouse with them. I have a serious grouse with them.
They have dominated Africa enough and should start replicating that in the world stage.
Honestly I thought in the past 10yrs or 15yrs that our girls has started playing professional football abroad they should have been up to speed and knowledgeable about the game like their European counterparts.
.
I started following the Falcons right from their first world cup appearance back in 1991.
Alright they were beating black and blue at their first and second world cup but in 1999 they tried and we started seeing improvement.
I wasn't blaming them back then bcus 80 to 90% of them back then are home based.
But my grouse now is, since year 2010 till now we have gone to majority tournament both AWCON and World cup with sometimes 100% foreign based players playing in Spain, England, France, China, USA e.t.c.
And yet we're not seeing improvement in their performances when playing international tournament.
Even the AWCON that they're the Queens, they're not struggling to beat some teams or should I say many teams are now catching up with them. Then I ask what is the use of saying majority of our girls are playing abroad.
.
Initially when they were more home based in the team we always use the excuse of the players not having adequate facilities back at home that can compete with their foreign counterparts. Now majority if not all of them are foreign based with sophisticated facilities at their various clubs and are team mates to most England, Spain, Germany, USA e.t.c players and yet during international tournament they always fall short of expectation.
Like I said earlier, congratulations to their latest feat but we or should I say me I am tired and bored in celebrating their African conquest but will be happy if we can at least start getting to semi finals of the world cup and Olympics and eventually winning them.
Just my little piece about the Falcons.
