Abusive words and threatening words are two different things.

Abusive words are verbal attacks aimed at hurting someone's feelings, self-esteem, or sense of worth, like insults, name-calling, or belittling, whereas threatening words are words or actions that communicate an intent to cause harm, injury, or damage to a person or their property. 

"The thunder go fire you" is a common abusive statement often used by Nigerian youths. I don't see this as a threat.

Anyway, I blame the guy for sending such a statement to her.
