I'm sorry to say but this might not be completely accurate.

Yes, some schools such as University of Queensland don't allow self application, but some do. Example is the University of Sydney. I think the most important thing is for the applicant to do due diligence of reading the application instructions before commencing. They usually state if they allow direct application or not. For those that allow self application, they also usually have same provision that allows you to choose to apply personally or via agent(s).

Like you said, the agents name (and links to their websites) are usually on the websites.

My friend is moving to Australia next week with a tourist visa, he is going for an Agricultural conference and may wish to convert to a work visa if possible when he gets there. Is it possible?

If his visa has a "No further stay" condition on it, his only option is to leave at the end of the conference or visa expiry date.

Hi I'm also a UK trained RMN. I'm having second thoughts on moving to AUS.

Are u much happier in AUS in terms of your mental health than the UK? Have you notice any any politics/bullying on the wards in AUS like the UK NHS wards? How are you dealing with the housing crisis in AUS? Houses seems expensive in AUS. I hate the cold miserable UK weather but people are saying the AUS hot weather is much harsher than any other country. Is this true? They say the AUS sun burn/sting your skin. Do you have to use sun cream outside during summer in AUS?

You could say there was no out of pocket expense but Medicare is NOT free. It's 2% of your income unless you are claiming an exemption.
The Medicare levy is an amount you pay in addition to the tax you pay on your taxable income.

Hello, please can you tell me how to go about the 491 visa do I need to apply for care job first to secure this visa or I get the visa first, find my way into the country and get a care job?

FBS:
1. Accomodation has gone bananas in Australia generally so for a family of 4 expect to cough out at least $AUD500/week depending on the area
2. It seems the 491 visa subclass does provide medicare and public school education - though not sure if childcare is included. Probably not as childcare is ridiculously expensive in Australia.
3. Apply for permanent residence after 3 years from the time your visa is granted​ - This may be the biggest plus.
4. The Carer thing is booming in Australia right now so finding a job should not be difficult at all.

imo the major challenges would be accomodation and school for the kids also depending on their ages, plus its a temporary visa (5 years). And also the fact that Australia is far from "everywhere" - if you are the type that likes to be around other family members or miss home all the time - better to stay where you are now and build your future.
Interstate travel within Australia is already a "luxury" not to talk of flying home to Naija every holiday.

Good things - Australia is indeed a beautiful place at least in terms of nature, space, organised system of government - no different from most western countries but certainly not without its issues.
