From climbing ropes, jumping dwarf fences, crawling underneath barbwire, etc, etc?

A gender should not wear or use what another gender owns or uses. To avoid defilement. A new trouser you made for yourself had never been used by anybody and does not belong to anybody but you. That is the meaning of that verse. No gender owns any style of clothing globally.

Most likely NYSC will appeal. The section that was quoted does not in any way apply.

NYSC can appeal, but they will most likely lose, except they can withdraw the wearing of hijab rights that muslim female corp members currently enjoy. These ex-corpers are citing their religious beliefs, being the exact same religious belief that Muslim female corpers cited when making demands for the wearing of hijab, which NYSC allowed.

Let people wear what they will. The skirts and hijabs have been worn alongside the NYSC uniform for as long as I know.

Meanwhile, trousers are decent if you don't make them tight and revealing.

These ex-corpers didn’t started it, though. NYSC created this situation when they allowed female corp members to wear hijab. Nothing should've been allowed to be added to that uniform.

My sisters who have never wore trousers all their lives did because of NYSC and so several thousands of other Nigerians. Trousers was against their religious belief, yet they wore it, not because they were stupid, don't love their religion enough, or don't know how to fight for their right. They did because they respected the laws of Nigeria and understand that Nigeria must always come first.

I am trying to understand the need for this.
This kind of ruling does not bode well.
There should be an intrinsic way to look at it.

It's like saying white lab coat which doctors wear during their pre medical training days contravene a worshipper of red garment and therefore he should be allowed to wear red lab coat.

This ruling does more harm than good In a multicultural and multireligous setting...

The idea is uniformity not identity.

Look at you. They already wear hijabs during nysc. We had female corpers who wore them many years ago when I served.

Una still dey enjoy NYSC where camping is only for 3 weeks ..yet una dey ask for skirt and special treatment.....

In as much as the present Government of the day(FG) has power but it will need public consensus, debate on the flow of NASS, then pass through first and second reading before assent by the President which sometimes takes months, or even years and most of the time before it comes back to be passed it will be quashed. On the other hand, the Supreme Military Council (SMC) as at then don’t go through this rigorous exercises, All the need do is make a “Decree” (Just one sentence) and everything will fall in line. That is why I will be Surprised if an extra state(s) is carved out in Nigeria under any democratically elected Government or even the full implementation of Local Government Autonomy.

Bringing religion into this is what I find irritating. Very soon those Muslim extremists that normally wear masquerade (covering their face completely) will insist on wearing the masquerade while serving. Not to talk of non-religious ones who will be wearing mini skirt.

The judgement must either be overturned or NYSC should be scrapped. NYSC is a kind of paramilitary organisation. There must be inflexible rule and discipline.
