Sabadon:This kind reasoning is exactly why these officers continue to abuse their power. You've learned nothing from this report. How will anything happen if you don't take the lawbreaking officials to court? This guy did and was awarded a N10M compensation but yet you're saying nothing happens. He also said this case sets a precedent .... meaning that should anyone else licence or vehicle be seized by this agency can go to court and quote this case which makes it easy for the judge to rule against the agency....because it was done before. There is millions to get through the court system ...thanks to these law breaking officials ...but a case must be filed . The nothing happens mentality gives them more power to abuse . |

the best is putting the FRSC under POLICE Affiliation like "TRAFFIC POLICE", with that they CONFER whole POWER and AUTHORITY. while FRSC jus issue LICENCES and CAR DOC only like our own "DVLA", A DVLA officer will never be on road to check licenses of cars or driver "NO", only during DRIVING TEST u see dem in HI Vs, dem sef dey call police on ppl and not take law into their HANDS |

Sellfish:Nawa oO for an average Nigerian. How on earth do you guys expect things to change if you guys keep compromising and yielding to extortion and all sorts of irregularities? Someone that had the resources and time decided to fight for you guys in court, and yet most of you are saying that he wasted his time. What kind of people are you guys? |

Morbeta11:This verdict is over ambiguous and too open. Let the Appeal Court tell the common man where does "lawful justification" start from and end? |

police also lacks the power to apprehend vehicles that are involved in accident. how can one explain a situation where police officers take a vehicle to their station that was involved in an accident and wait for the culprits to pay before releasing the vehicles? |

From all the comments I have read up there, I realize most of you are cowards and it will be very foolish for anyone to put himself in front for you guys, with people like this, this country is going nowhere. It will be like this for the next 50 years. Haba, and the sad thing is most comments are from the so called educated youths from the southern part of the country, while the northerners that you people claim are not so “educated “ will never allow their rights to be infringed upon without fighting back, especially when there is a law like this to back them. Shame on you all educated people. VIO in Abuja no longer randomly stop cars, they have apps that they use to check if your papers have expired, and is only then they stop you. This was made possible by a court ruling. One wanted to ask me for papers, I told him to use the VIO app to check my number plates, if him no get, make him commot for road, he just walked away. Try to update yourself. |

spencekat:Are you not in Nigeria? This is a fair judgement, however its implementation will be another story. Police has been asked not to check peoples phones, it…. |

Originalsly:you re right my brother, just that sometimes the bureaucracy involved is draining and most times you ll get frustrated trying to see it through. If only the legal system was swift in dispensing judgment, more people would be assessing it. |

| Re: Appeal Court Rules FRSC Lacks Power To Seize Drivers’ Licences, Vehicles by Lithiumite: 10:31am On Jul 29, 2025 |
Sabadon:The law exists and work but most Nigerians are rather too impatient to follow it through, that's the advantage most of these law enforcement guys use to exploit people because they know you can't follow the law through. |

Sellfish:When the order was made that frsc officials shouldn't chase after motorist it has been effective since then.....u no longer see them chasing after motorist as they used to do.however I agree with u that you should be able to read the moment and have a positive attitude towards this guy's so as to avoid stories that touch.....being nice and friendly a lone can get you out of 95% situations with them. |

Meeezzzy:.those ones deserve correct beating!! People who can't afford car tyre or buy cars their whole life will be telling car owners how to use their cars....their lack of common sense don't make them realise how much they disrupt the productivity of many private people..... instead of just issuing tickets for any offence and tell you to go,they will insist on wrecking your whole day. |

Lithiumite:Depends on where you are at. I still saw them Searching Phones and bags on Badagry Expressway yesterday at Agboju-Alakija axis. While at it, they asked guys to disembark from Bikes too and subject them to Searches. This I saw with my own eyes. |

Sellfish:It started with attitudes such as yours. Stop giving these entitled brats money. Have your documents and all that is required to drive. Stop encouraging impunity. From asking for "something", they will eventually graduate to "demanding" for something. |

tnerro1:Keep up the good work. We will get there eventually. It is really sad to see 'educated' folks roll over to be whipped by these agencies. |
