Maybe something is wrong with me .... but is this the way to go? ...protest? ...and appeal to the government? ...the Governor? ...waste of time. Their properties will be bulldozed out of the way ... and no compensation given. Has work stopped on the project because of the protests and wailing and appealing? ... I'm sure it hasn't. What happen to going to court to stop the confiscation of land until a compensation agreement is reached? As it is now ...they are begging for compensation. The government can declare "ok ... we will gather all the names and bank details of those who will be affected by August 7 ...and may thunder fire me if compensation is not paid by August 20." And by August 20.... The affected receive alert .... deposit of N20K... case closed.

lol it’s not that bad.18b was given to costal highway owners.in Asaba the owner of a fuel station that was demolished the compensation he was paid he used it to rebuild two fuel stations.it just depends on who is in govt at that time.luck plays a major factor in issues like this.life don pass that stage my brother.no govt can take ur property without paying u.

not all lands.the land use act said all land belongs to govt but there’s a clause.its just like my mum calling u his son.u are not actually his son.

I pray Lagos governor pay them b4 the demolition.


Becos they are very good in using government power in demolish whatever areas they wish to collect without compensation.

Lagos has one airport, just like Abuja... Murtala Muhammed International Airport (two International terminals and two domestic terminals).

It is so funny, government that can't maintain existing Lekki road, want to embark on another blue elephant project. Every governor since 1999 have signed MOU for fourth Mainland bridge, till now still in the drawing board. See the wastage called sand filling by Ambode at Iyana Oworo. The Victoria Garden City, VGC, Ajah bridge has been left for more than 2 years, when election is near, they will shout and do jamboree to complete before voting. They will demolished and nothing will be done for years, look at Orile /Badagry corridor, until some people will encroach on the land. Gazette should be followed.

Years ago, there was a proposed site for another airport to be sited near Aguda/ Coker road in Surulere. That place is still called airport road but the project is abandoned.

Suddenly, there is no ethnic coloration to demolitions. Wonderful! I thought a part of Landmark was demolished because the owner is Igbo. I guess the buildings earmarked for demolition because of the green line and the new airport are also all owned by Igbos. You people should be calming down.

God bless you, why destroy the people you expect to utilize the infrastructure for the infrastructure!? when infrastructure is supposed to bring comfort to people but in Nigeria it will only bring pains, agony and tears.

Sometimes i find it difficult to understand how people that are fortunate to be in power think.
What stops them from compensating and or relocating the people affected by this projects before they begin construction. Sometimes it really makes me to wonder if it is as a result of wickedness, stupidity, ignorance or just plain indifference.
It really baffles and confuses me i swear.

That is the country Nigeria. Anything you make as an investment here is at a very big risk. It is a land without LAW.

No doubt at the bolded. Like Softmirror said earlier ... under Yaradua Katsina residents were hoping their property be confiscated because the compensation was great. In this case ...it is not ..and this is not about good luck or bad luck ... it is about following the law.

not laws for Nigeria o.if we begin talk about law e go cast.i have a big house that has been marked for demolition I’m expecting payment and I know it won’t be so bad.lets be realistic.if ur property is worth 300m them give u 200m u should count ur lose and move on.thats why it’s called compensation.once they pay well,u count your lose.My house is worth 400m but if I see 250m and above I no go talk.

The guy was awarded N10 million under whose laws? Is it not Nigerian law? Don't you have access to the same laws? ...and can be fairly compensated? What you've written here is the same mentality that encourages corruption. Your property is worth N400 million but you will happily accept N250 M. ... not interested in standing up for your rights. Now the agency will budget N400 M as compensation ...give you 250 and pocket 150 because they know there will be no consequences...and the corruption continues. If mine is worth... they'll know to give me 300 to avoid wahala. You don't stand up for your rights ...they will be taken away from you.
