Good day esteemed bosses,

I would like to be completely honest regarding an issue I'm currently facing. Back in 2017, I applied for an international passport with the intention of traveling to an Asian country. At the time, the agent assisting me advised that I increase my date of birth from 1992 to 1985 (a 7-year difference) to supposedly improve my chances of visa approval.

Now, my passport has expired since 2022, and I’m looking to renew it. However, the date of birth on the passport does not match the one on my NIN, which contains my correct information. Based on what I’ve read online, the date of birth on both documents must align for the renewal to go through.

I’ve also been informed by some individuals that such modifications can only be done at the passport office in Abuja. I would appreciate it if anyone here could confirm how true this is and guide me on what the correction process entails. Thank you

So interesting stuff happened today at Kaduna Passport Office.

I paid online and went for my capturing at the Kaduna Passport Office.

On getting there, they told me to meet a "Self Payment Desk Officer", I met the guy and he was telling me I had to pay N7,000.

"N7000 for what exactly?" I queried. I did not get any further response and was told if I don't pay I would not even be attended to and my documents were handed back to me in a dismissive way.

So, I did what every Nigerian who reads this should begin to do, I called the Nigerian Immigration Headquarters in Abuja and laid a complaint (09121477092)

I was told to wait some minutes as they were trying to contact them officially but it seemed they were having issues with the network, so I was told to give the phone to the errant officer.

Lol, this guy started saying "Yes Sir, Yes Sir, Yes Sir", he was told to go give the phone to their overall boss there in the Kaduna Passport Office.

I was later called to their boss office, I saw the errant officer standing by the wall, his arms behind him and him looking like a wet puppy. Their boss wasn't looking too happy.

Their boss told me to recount my ordeal and I was told to go wait that I would get my passport today (I didn't see that coming).

I even skipped the queue for the actual capturing, it was funny the way they all carried my matter for head.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I got my Nigerian Passport within 1 hour of waiting. They were all visibly shaken.

The Nigerian Passport is your Right, you don't have to pay anybody to get it.

Omo I they Kaduna like this,and I wan renew my own how much does it cost you totally? Is it also the office at the federal secretariat near Kawo?

I don't think there's any office at Kawo, NIS Kaduna is off Ahmadu Bello Way towards Central Market.

I applied fresh, no idea about renewal. Sha apply online yourself and don't get scammed. All the best.

Just to be sure... was i supposed to get a confirmation or an approval regarding the appointment day before proceeding or i should just head over to the office tomorrow with all the printed documents for my capturing.... i'd really appreciate your response. I just did capturing this morning through an officer that did it for me 5 years ago and noticed that the picture on my application form is not mine.

He explained that they normally register different applications when there's network so as to get the application number and Reference number ready incase there's no network later to generate the numbers.

He said that my passport will come out with the picture I took while capturing.

Is this normal?

Not normal but your passport will come like he said. They don't use the passport on your application form (except to have it in your file), it's the one you took during capturing that will appear on your passport.

I am trying to re-new my passport , but the website keeps rejecting my photograph.

Reasons for rejection:

1. Face is tilted

I took the photograph at a photo lab that specializes in passport photograph for the Nigerian passport .

I have paid 2500 Naira 3 times at 3 different photo lab centres around my neighbourhood , But i am still having the same issue .

after visiting 3 different photo labs, and paying 2500 naira, keeps showing up error : "Face is tilted"

Due to this challenge, i am not able to complete and submit the online form.

I am considering visiting the closest Immigration office to take the photograph there at their office .


Pls i need any info that could be of help .

Location matters.

Give or take 6weeks maximum. Some are less.

No one is sending any mail to you to inform you is ready,you can get text but not guaranteed.

So walk in with your collection slip,and present at the collection unit.

If asked if you got a text,say yes but you are not with the phone. Then give the collection note,the will sure give you,if the passport has been produced.

That piece of paper given to you after your capturing with number written on it.

There's a slip you were given after capturing,that's the collection slip.
