I've read this statement a lot from diaspora people but I can't phantom what they actually mean. You travelled with the mindset that Nigeria isn't in order and properly managed and you're seeking for a secure and serene environment where things are done in order. So, what do you mean by if Nigeria gets better? |

Emusan:over 70% of those abroad would not have travelled if Nigeria was half as good as where they relocated to |

thesicilian:So, if Nigeria is to be good by half. How will Nigeria be different from where they are now? |

➜over 70% of those abroad would not have travelled if Nigeria was half as good as where they relocated toMany Nigerians travel out only after finding that the corruption in the system no longer favors them. Otherwise, they would remain and enjoy it for as long as the free ride goes on. A lot of these Nigerians hate living in sane climes because to them they are reduced to living life as everyone else in those places, and that turns out hard to do for them. If Nigeria were to "get better", many would return to test whether that means that the system is back at a level that favours their greed. If not, they are likely to head back out the other way again. ![]() |

Travelling abroad is like being a guest in a rich relative's house. Sure you might have everything you want in your room, but his wife doesnt like you. She wont show it, but you know due to the exclusion during gatherings, the foods they dish out to you, and her daughter who always frowns anytime you turn on the tv. You might be comfortable materially, but you sacrificed your esteem, the feeling of belonging, and swallowing your eba in peace without someone looking at you like you're a bushman, If where you have to return to is not worse like a warzone, you may go back and regain your sanity. But when you see where you have to return to, you might just as well stay back and hope for better days. |

ariefadenco:There is actualy little to no truth to what the other poster claims as there are many Nigerians who have lived abroad for generations and could never feel at home if they were to move back to anyplace in Nigeria. I met quite a couple of them when I myself arrived — people who, for one reason or another, chose to abandon Nigeria, and have no desire or yearning to head back there. Every year, millions of people relocate from their original homelands, and many of them for good — they make a new home in their new country where they then proceed to live out the rest of their lives without ever returning to where they came from. I fail to understand why, when it comes to Nigerian immigrants, some other Nigerians would rather insist that a Nigerian cannot have a home other than Nigeria— a falsehood. It simply does not make sense to me that anyone could continue to reason that way even after the much we have learned of how the world works. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:What the other poster (pansophist) said makes alot of sense and the reality of this living abroad stuffs. The analogy also fits the Situation right, a Amukoko dweller that is given accommodation by a relative at Ikoyi. If you are a rightfull thinking person with some degree of shame and concience you should not feel too comfortable living with them eventhough your host never complained. But the guest that has no shame will even be more proud than his Ikoyi host for living in Ikoyi. |

I believe what they are implying by that statement is.. better standard of living, stable electricity, improved security, jobs availability and so on. Let's be honest with ourselves, no Nigerian would desire to leave Nigeria had it been those things listed are in place. That's why we must stop fo.0ling ourselves with religion and start demanding for accountability and good governance from these bad leaders. |

OkanlawonB:The reality of life abroad for you is not and will never be the same for others. It is just that simple. I have met Nigerians who have been here for generations and never been back. Visit the local cemeteraries and you will find names of Nigerians who died here, their graves still cared for by family members. Again, Nigerians are not robots that you should conclude they are like you and live as you do. ![]() |

OkanlawonB:These are all suppositions based on personal delusions and not facts. ![]() You only need to visit the local cemeteries here to realize that some of them contain the graves of Nigerians who lived and died here, the graves being cared for by their family members. The care homes here also have long-term Nigerian residents. That should cause any sensible individual out there to realize Nigeria is not the only home for Nigerians. ![]() 2. People should feel ashamed of living in countries where they have been allowed to make their new home. Are you certain you are alright in the head at all? 😩😩😩 |

If a country welcomes u and Makes u feel just as equal as their citizens cause I enjoy SAME rights y would you leave?. Why. U speak their language they love u. U earn well. Earn more than u would have dreamt of earning if u were in 9ja .Nothing to miss in Nigeria. Some folks here don't even know d way back to 9ja . |

pansophist:This boils down to one thing "Discrimination & Racism" but there's "discrimination and tribal segregation" also back home. Anyways, your points is noted but I don't see people picking that as major reason but I do hear people complaining about Tax & Cost of living. |
| Re: I Can't Wait To Come Back, If Nigeria Gets Better! by pansophist(m): 10:13pm On Jun 08, 2025 |
Emusan:It is difficult to train men when they are young to at least 15 years old. For women, it is difficult to train them from 15 years old upwards. Women are quite gentle when young, and generally meek compare to men who have boiling testosterone. Raising girls are very difficult because their mistake are usually fatal, and sometimes irreparable. A man can live a reckless life until he is 40, then decide to turn his life around and boom, he can still raise a family and find a good woman. Same can hardly be said for a woman. And the temptation, exposure and every man trying to get into her pants from young, introducing her to different lifestyle without sharpening her character, then you have a spoilt woman who thinks she is the best thing after Jesus. May God help us with daughters to be able to raise them well |

Ask them if Nigeria will ever get better. Definitely in their dreams. |
| Re: I Can't Wait To Come Back, If Nigeria Gets Better! by Mcslize: 10:17pm On Jul 29, 2025 |
thesicilian:Nigeria will get better in their dreams of course. They should keep hoping. Is it the Nigeria that I know, where things get worse year in year out that they are expecting things will get better or it's another Nigeria? |
| Re: I Can't Wait To Come Back, If Nigeria Gets Better! by Mcslize: 10:25pm On Jul 29, 2025 |
Same Nigerians that want to finish themselves with tribálism and religious segregation in Nigeria will be complaining of rácism and not feeling at home abroad? If a whité man just mistakenly step on your foot, it's termed ràcism. Whereas, in Nigeria, you won't vóte for Peter Obi cuz you are a Yóruba or Háusa-fulàni and he is not. Hypócrisy will finish una life. |

Majority of Nigerians that japa to western countries were not poor. They miss having a driver, maid, security/mopol. They miss being worshiped in public by poor people, bank security or area boys. They miss not having the opportunity to do corrupt things without consequences. For those who have acquired citizenship they know they can use it to get access to certain spaces, jobs, contracts so they always talk about coming back home. For the babes they are tired of working to pay their own bills when odogwu used to cover all the bills in Nigeria |

ednut1:So the 50-50 equality they campaigned for na scam? Would they continue to lambast the pATrIArChY as they do online when they finally find that Odogwu? |

pansophist:To be fair, I think you write this based on your experiences (Northern Europe). I reside in East Asia, so I can understand your perspective. But for Nigerians in the UK and US, I strongly doubt they have similar thoughts. There are way too many Nigerians domiciled in those countries who would never think of returning to Nigeria. |

If the country gets better I have no doubt many Nigerians will return. It doesn't have to be as good or even nearly as good as it is in the history country... but just have fair basic infrastructure... security ...ease of business and above all ... good hospitals. The ones most likely to return are those who left Nigeria after schooling and have not raised a family abroad. Loneliness will be the motivating factor. He may have a good job and all that ....but will be lacking a large friend base. Going to school and in the community in Nigeria before emigrating at age 20 ... one would have a substantial friend base. Arriving abroad ... what friend base would one have? ..friends one can physically mingle with? ... Phone and cyber world friends don't count since they don't do as much to cut down on loneliness. The friends he made at his job will be few and hanging out together is generally rare. He is most likely to return home for comfort in friends. The ones who left Nigeria young will not have such a large friend base in Nigeria ....but will have a much larger one abroad when he attends school. He is not likely to return ... he will absorb the new culture which as time goes on will almost but shut out the Nigerian culture. Why would he be going back? Nigerians ...and others been emigrating for yearsss..... some return ...most don't regardless of the conditions of their native land. |

Gerrard59:nigerian women copied the western feminism. But as regards the bills part they still want odogwu treatment which is funny to me 😂 |
| Re: I Can't Wait To Come Back, If Nigeria Gets Better! by Gerrard59(m): 11:39am On Jul 30, 2025 |
ednut1:It's not just funny, but dishonest and hypocritical. If a lady wants an Odogwu, she has to be traditional. A woman who wants an Odogwu cannot be behaving like a man in the name of feminism. It's very dishonest. |

Gerrard59:It is also the same in the Uk and the US bros. Infact, it is more like that in those places than in northern Europe. |
