AMINDA:
Fashola remains one of the few leaders with Omuluabi ethos remaining in the Southwest. Tinubu has labelled the rest as betrayers.

The Yorubas should be careful not to hinge their entire political and socio-cultural future on the inordinate selfish ambition of one man.
Ọmọlúwàbís don’t say anything that they can’t do.

Fashola is something else apart from ọmọlúwàbí'.

Fashola to Nigerians: 'If You Want to Have Stable Electricity Supply, Vote PDP Out in 2015'

Jul 11, 2014.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, while marking his 2,600 days in office at an elaborate ceremony held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos Television premises, has said voting out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in next year’s general election is the only way the country can have stable electricity.

According to The Nation, Fashola said electricity crisis in the country is caused by lack of ideas and insincerity of purpose on the part of Federal Government.

"Yes I agree with you that it is possible to generate electricity and to make sure that everybody in this country has electricity, we have to do the right thing. But you know what, the only way that you and I will have electricity in this country will be to vote out the PDP.

Fashola is a great States man and a true omuolabi. As Governor he was never involved in ethnic bait or slants.. His major task was to collaborate with all progressives to build Lagos and we all saw the good works he did that has become the bench mark of leadership . After Jakande ..he's the next best thing that happened to Lagos state.

This change of name and Ronu fights is mostly carried out by people who have failed to achieve anything for themselves. They see every successful foreigner as having come to take their birthright,

Like a typical xenophobic black South African, they will worship the white but fight their fellow African.

It takes very poor thinker to believe that by renaming a street, your have taken a hit at a tribe that came from ground zero barely 50years ago and surpassed you in many climes
@Bolded Where? How?

For history to be preserved, it means you have to honor people who worked hard to actualize that street.

An Igbo man renovated a treat, brought street lights into it, sand fill it and fixed bad spots on the street. He earned the title and named after the street.

Now, someone from no where wants to change it because of tribalism

Now Fashola is saying, don't changed the history. Let people know how it came into existence

Lagos and indeed the entire Southwest won’t realise the damage Tinubu has done to how the rest of the country sees them till the next 3 years.

cheesy when the people that matter in Lagos sociopolitical structure and power talk, some inconsequential minority with no ancestral ties or knowledge about the history of Lagos think they have a say in the administration of our state.

Going forward every governorship aspirants must embrace the new wave of conservatism browning across Lagos as our heritage and identity needs to be protected and we will only be voting leaders in Lagos who are ready to preserve the Yoruba history and heritage..eko oni baje oo…btw proudly Lagos

History would be preserved when you allow the things you met in the state to remain the same I am pretty sure Fashola and his gang came to meet those street already existing and decided to edit the names how else can one preserve history if not by allowing those things to remain the way they are? Y’all keep deceiving yourself we aren’t one Nigeria, I go to plenty states and see Yoruba names having streets come to Benin city you will see Yoruba streets even Balogun street plenty of Yoruba names in Benin around ring road etc the Benin people never changed the names una own wan too much for this country

No matter the level of pretense, blackmail and sabotage, the history of Lagos can never be complete without the Igbos. Those who for selfish political reasons try to rewrite the history are only trying in vain.
Re: Street Naming: Lagos History Must Be Preserved, Says Fashola by hotseat: 10:34am On Jul 30, 2025
While preserving the history of Lagos State is a necessity, caution must be taken so as not to be viewed as an attack against "perceived enemies".

Any decerning observer knows that this sudden renaming of streets and roads appears to be a fallout of the false claim that Lagos is a no man's land nauseatingly brought to the fore during the last presidential election in the State.

The fact that Lagos State belongs to the Yorubas of the State notwithstanding, other Nigerians have and continue to make their various contributions towards its present economic, social and political status.

We can't afford to profess "One Nigeria" only in theory but not in practice!

Live and let others live!

The more the merrier!
