A huge Hippopotamus was Spotted in Shelleng and then later appeared again in Guyuk LGA of Adamawa State. It was hunted down by a number of youths and finally killed.

The hippopotamus really has meat in it's body that left me speechless. Infact the meat in this animal can feed the whole of my village. Lolss

The youths were jubilating and full of gratitude, thanking God for the provision and expectant for another one...😊😃

Many people are criticizing the youths online for killing the animal instead of taking it to the zoo and kept for tourism. The truth is that you cannot keep something for tourism when you're hungry. The western world preserve this things when they find them because their government do not steal money and leave them hungry.

In the wake of a deadly encounter between displaced wildlife and local residents, a community in Guyuk Local Government Area has reportedly killed a hippopotamus for consumption after the animal fatally attacked a young man earlier this week.

The incident follows severe flooding around the Kiri Dam in Shelleng, which forced dozens of hippopotamuses out of their natural habitat and into populated areas. Residents have expressed growing fear as the animals continue to invade farmlands, riverbanks, and even flooded homes.

Local leaders, including Guyuk LGA Chairman Shalom Kassa, confirmed the fatal attack and described the situation as a “serious threat to human lives and livelihoods.” With existing laws prohibiting the killing of wildlife, residents say they felt helpless until the recent tragedy pushed them to act.

In a controversial move, members of the affected community reportedly hunted down one of the hippopotamuses and butchered it for meat. While some view the act as a necessary response to danger, others warn it could spark legal consequences and raise ethical concerns about wildlife protection.

Local authorities have appealed to the Adamawa State Government and environmental agencies for urgent intervention. “We need wildlife experts to help relocate these animals before more lives are lost

The leaders are sourced from the led so don’t expect them to act any different! You and i would be labelled ‘elitist’ for advocating the protection and preservation of our wildlife!

With what money?? On whose land?? With what equipment and technicalities


You want them to allow a dangerous animal roam through their streets without doing nothing…
So the hippo life is more meaningful than human life,same animals that won’t think twice before doing you harm if you stray into their habitat…

To err with zoo. Let me eat, every creature is for food and not for some sport ISH. They will put them their against their own will and can't even feed them. Kill and eat

Is a cow,duck or chicken not exotic?how is this eating their future. Other animals have gone extinct and life went on. In fact even if man becomes extinct the planet will move on. Also this species of hippos are not endangered
