Exactly what I am saying. The Lionesses already had everything arranged for them in the event they lift the trophy, but in a Nigeria's case, even past match bonuses were owed until the President intervened. NFF is too corrupt, no company wants to have anything to do with a very corrupt organisation.

Sometime ago, FIFA gave Nigeria her share of getting to the knockout stage, out of which a sizable amount was supposed to go to the players, till today, I doubt if those players received their dues. Those girls are the pride of the Nation, the most successful of all our Sport teams, but they are often cheated and negleted by the NFF, and when they complain, they are victimised.

Another example, the U20, the Falconets returned from a Championship, and they where given 20k naira each to travel back to their families, that they will be paid later. I am sure the 30% which belongs to the team out of the one million dollars that came with the WAFCON Trophy will be mismanaged.

Unfortunately, the government has no power to interfere in the affairs of the FA, if they do, and the FA reports to FIFA, every Nigeria Football team will be banned from all FIFA competitions, until the govt removes her hand.
The government has the power to wash their hands
Why does the government fund the FA . They can demand the power to appoint board members in a take it or leave it deal no appointment no money

The English women's national team, the Lionesses, beat Spain 3-1 on penalties to win the Women's European Championship on Sunday night and they had a victory parade earlier today. They paraded down the Mall to Buckingham Palace and Burna Boy (who is the manager's favourite artist) was there to perform for them.

Video: England's manager, Sarina Wiegman, goes crazy when Burna Boy appears.

We have been here over and over again. It is against the FIFA Statutes, no govt interference in football when it comes to discipline, but they are free to pump money into it. Imagine that!

You see, we lack accountability in all areas and we don't have selve sustaining systems across board, hence, the over reliance on govt for everything. When the corporate world intervenes, it is mismanaged. And even the EFCC can't do sh*t about it, not even when govt funds are being mismanaged. We've tried in the past and we got slammed with a ban.

Again, Nigerian people are not that understanding in this regard, you will start reading and hearing things about how the govt is neglecting our only unifying factor. Journalists, ex and current footballers, opposition parties, and even the masses alike would be on the govt's neck. Unfortunately, the govt can do close to nothing about the election into NFF. The States FA Chairpersons elect the NFF exco, and from grassroots to the Fed level, the govts fund the FAs. In fact, no section of the Ministry of Sports fund itself. They all depend on the Govt.

They are all like over pampered children whose shenanigans are protected by FIFA rules, but their parents are too handicapped to do anything about it, neither can they stop sponsoring them because of the bad name and embarrassment it will bring to them, locally and internationally.

This is supercilious
government should stop funding them period
If they want government money they AGREE to government representation
If they don't want it they don't agree . It is voluntary and there is no interference in that.
No need to make it too long

Nigerian people won't understand government removing funding to respect FIFA but understand removal of oil subsidy ?
Is the status quo desirable or sustainable
Give us credit Nigerians are smart
It will happen and people will talk fo 20 days and move on.

FiFA has money they can support the FA too
Are we saying we cannot organise football to be commercially sustainable in Nigeria without government help?

Did this same Burna not perform at an NBA event? Once government money dries up PERMANENTLY like petrol subsidy things will change
The FA have to create a league with a 50 year vision
Government maybe should ban screening of the premiership and European football or Tariff it like Trump

Since you know too much, go and stop the funding now. Folks outside African politics keep displaying their ignorance and hypocrisy. The same two-face people bashing the govt for its generousity towards these girls, would still have bashed them if they had failed to do nothing. How many times has Peter Obi criticised the govt on not funding Sports enough? Imagine a situation whereby the govt tells every association to go self-fund. You start hearing embarrasing things like this team or that team is banished from hotel or stranded at airports.

Oga, visit your Representative to sponsor a bill to stop govt funding of Sport Federations.

Stop beefing the girls, you sef go do something wey go put smile on Nigerian's faces, and you will be rewarded accordingly.

Why are Nigerians pained about it ?
Why would anyone want to be a part of a country that is a failure and a shame?

You do not become English by Naturalisation but by birth
What you can become is British
They are not the same
In FiFA
There are four home countries from the UK
England
Scotland
Wales
Northern Ireland
They all have National teams

You can become Nigerian by Naturalisation if maybe you originally are from Germany
What you cannot become by Naturalisation is Ijaw or Fulani or Yoruba

So if Burna boy Naturalised he would become British not English British Nigerian not English

I do not believe he has naturalised so you must know more than me

The Falcons were meant to have an open top bus parade, just like the Lionesses. If you check the thread in which I posted the announcement, people that live in Abuja were asking me if the parade will still happen because it rained heavily in Abuja that day.

I saw a video by one of the people that was waiting at the airport and she was thanking God that the rain stopped just before the Falcons were supposed to land.

Rasheedat Ajibade posted a video of their journey from the airport and we could see water coming down the window of the bus.

Basically the parade was cancelled because of rain. Search Abuja rain on Twitter and you'll discover that people did not go to work that day because the rain was too heavy.

I've been following this type of reception since 1985 and there's usually a parade on the street, a state reception at the Presidency and a civic reception, but it rained on that day.

Meanwhile, some people are criticising the fact that the King was not there to receive the England team, despite the fact that the reception was held in front of Buckingham Palace, but some say that the King will meet with them later.

He has made it clear where he stands, and I support him 💯

Well, that's a good one. But victory parades are normal. Having a concert to celebrate with the people is another level. That's the lowest level they should aim for
