When Did Kids Become The Teachers? Parents As Trainees In 2025! by Kalatium(op):
Hey everyone,

Remember when parents were the all-knowing guides, teaching us how to ride bikes or cook a meal? Well, it seems those days are long gone! In 2025, it’s like the roles have flipped—kids are now the ones schooling *us* on everything from navigating the latest apps to decoding Gen Z slang or mastering a viral TikTok dance. 😅

I was just laughing with a friend about how her 12-year-old had to show her how to set up a group chat on WhatsApp, and I’ve seen my own nephew patiently explain to his dad how to unmute on Zoom. It’s wild how tech-savvy kids have become the household IT experts, social media gurus, and even cultural translators!

What’s the funniest or most surprising thing your kid (or a kid you know) has taught a parent lately? Are parents officially the trainees now, or is there still hope for us to keep up? 😄

Just last month, my friend's 6-year-old niece looked at her grandma’s phone and said, “You have too many tabs open. That’s why your brain is tired.” 😂

Grandma was shook—and honestly, same.

I personally don't think it's a good idea to be exposing kids to technology at a very young age, unless it's part of the school's curriculum, because they'll only get exposed to social media/internet toxicity.

Sure, we now live in a digital era, but we still need to be cautious with the amount of internet we allow these kids to have access to.

Some of these kids are already phone addicts from as young as eight or ten and are solely dependant on phones for entertainment... My two nephews and niece would even go to the extent of bothering you for your phone whenever they don't have theirs in their possession, they'd constantly take a peek of what you're doing and you can't even leave your phone unattended for some time without them taking it to do only God knows what with it... I now have to setup a password whenever they're around...One of them once used my personal details to create a Facebook account while the other one once created his own lock pattern on my phone and left without deactivating it...🤦🤦🤦

Had to call the father and asked him to tell his son to draw down the pattern and send it via WhatsApp on my other phone... I personally don't plan on allowing my future kids to have smart phones until they're teenagers... They'll only have access to the internet through the family's desktop computer under strict parental control settings.

That is an insult. The child should be disciplined. Leniency raises entitled and undisciplined children.

But children usually speak their minds, containing elements of truth.
