The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has dismissed reports claiming it advised Mr. Peter Obi to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race. The group also refuted allegations that it urged northern leaders not to support Obi’s presidential ambition.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, the organisation described the claims as acts of mischief by “street urchins.”

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has been alerted to a misleading report circulating on social media alleging that the apex Igbo body warned Mr. Peter Obi against contesting the 2027 presidential election,” the statement said.

“It also claimed that Ohanaeze cautioned the North against backing his candidacy. We wish to categorically state that such a mischief-driven and misleading statement did not emanate from the dignified apex Igbo body.”

Chukwu noted that the statement was the handiwork of a group he described as “clandestine starving street urchins who parade a phantom, ludicrous brown-envelope Ohanaeze, with POS as their address.”

He emphasized that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, under the leadership of credible figures such as Senator John Azuta Mbata (President-General), Prince Okey Nwadinobi (Deputy President-General), and Emeka Sibeudu (Secretary-General), could not have issued such an “ignominious” statement.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo is committed to the wellbeing of the Igbo nation and national development through justice, fairness, and equity,” the group reiterated. “We remain non-partisan and have not taken any position on the 2027 presidential election or endorsed any candidate.”

The group urged the media and the public to disregard statements from “incurable mercenaries unconscionably parading the Ohanaeze brand to execute the pecuniary bidding of their political paymasters.”

The statement delibrately used the word urchins because they know some of there urchins are littered on this forum. I have never seen anybody as desperate as Tinubu and his agbado urchins.

Obi team should be on the lookout for AI generated videos, most people in the North can't tell the difference and this administration is sickeningly desperate, they will do the unimaginable.

by now Obi should draft a counter measure for immediate response and constitute a team that's good in geolocation and reverse imagery to track down source of such videos and deal with them ruthlessly when the time comes.

The only possible way Atiku will flag ADC is by signing a public agreement that he will only serve one term and handover to Obi.

Obi have stated on publicly available videos that he only need one term to reset Nigerian.

Why would any sane Nigeria sell his dog to buy money, I don't see much difference between Tinubu and Atiku.

Truth be told, I earlier decided not to vote anymore, but the truth is that if we decide to do nothing, it's not going to change anything. Peter Obi has brought hope. The fact that he isn't allowing himself to be compromised should thus reassure Nigerians that if we do what we must do to make our votes count, Peter Obi will not betray us. We shouldn't wait for anyone to motivate us. The system is affecting everybody. Let's take it as our own fight. It would have been worse, if in all these, we didn't see a credible politician to root for.

Jagaban.... A Muslim with 4 years only to rule will defeat Peter Obi before 12 noon on election Day.

Northerners will not trust Peter Obi to rule for only 4 years and leave office, hence they will not vote for him.

They will rather vote for Jagaban that is legally bound by law to leave office after 4 years

Nigerian politics is not rocket science. It is straight forward.

But when you add Atiku Abubakar to the picture with Peter Obi, then the Narrative will change drastically.
