Animals don't attack until they felt threatened.
My closest shot with Lion and Elephants was in Uganda.
I came out of my pick-up van to have a good view of an elephant herds in Pakwach.
They saw me and tolerated me.
After sometimes, the leader charged to let me know "time's up".
I ran in and the driver moved immediately.
All animals are naturally friendly, but can also mis-interpret us like we Men do.

Those things can be quick in short bursts. If you don't see them first and they see you and you're close like a few feet away.... It will likely not end well for you. And unless you're running into a cave or house built with cement blocks and concrete, that narrow place might be your grave yard.
