Daily trust and their agenda. The media and average Nigerians are so hypocritical, these same people complained the female counterpart had been neglected and treated as being inferior for so long even when they often bring glory back home while their male counterpart are usually given heroic welcome. Super Eagles collets $50,000-$100,000 each when the win a major tournament. So,
!
All these fake information you are sharing. When did Super Eagles get 100,000 dollars each for winning a tournament?

Stop lying.

Interesting

As someone asked, if their sisters won WAFCON, would they have opposed the largesse from Tinubu?

Some of the girls worked hard to win that trophy. Some of them came from poor families. They made the country proud. The payment is not only a reward for them but an investment for the future of the girl child and other athletes. It would also encourage corporate bodies to invest more in sports. For example, Nduka Obaigbena has committed to invest in athletic trials. These investments would attract talents who can win laurels for the country and even attract sponsorship deals for them.

It is not everything that must be condemned.
One problem with most of you is that you make comments laced with unnecessary emotions. If we keep asking such silly questions, do you think we would make a headway in the society? The part I bolded in your comment shows that you really lack knowledge.

The federal Government is not giving them money, they are only sharing the prize money from CAF and FIFA.

We often say things we don't have idea about.

The victory comes with the trophy and cash.
CAF winnings is 1m dollars....Fifa has no business with gifting them anything.... 1m dollars that they will get will only cover for 10 players ...out of 23...apart from the staff that were promised 70k each

What was given already far exceeds the prize money.

It is true that the Precious Falcon, the New Golden Falcons are the real Champion 🏆, and NIGERIANS may be Shifting Loyalty to them - For being Successful,For Success Has Many Fathers and Mothers!
It is also True - that our Teachers and Doctors in most Hospitals are paying patry Salaries and Allowances - the Money 🤑 many Politicians used and as Pocket Money and the Reason WHY POLITICIANS AND THERE FOOTSOLDIERS -RUN Abroad For their Medical Solutions,by abandoning the Masses In Nigeria -but how do you rate the Pilots -Fees?
• Can Most Organisations pay Such Pilots Fees in Nigeria Today?
•But what NIGERIANS wants is True Wages and Salaries + Good Allowances- Especially To Our Drs and Teachers,In Public Own Institutions- to avoid Japa - Syndrome in NIGERIA Health and Educational Sector!

I don't agree with this campaign

The super Falcons earned thier wages
The money was not dashed to "every" footballer on the street.

But to a team that won a trophy every other nation in Africa is dreaming of. Not just once but 10 times.

Even Brazil has never won a title 10 times

This crop of girls have done exceptionally well
Imagine the huge resources Morocco put in to with it.
The built new stadium
Hosted the tournament 3 straight times
Invested in youth development for years
Test they came out second best to nigeria

What I would want Nigeria talking to do
Is to ask Mr. President to also look out for exceptional doctors and people who have also distinguish themselves in thier field to be recognized

He did that to incur votes for 2027 election. Just imagine where the money came out from!
Nothing will stop him to ensure that doctors and other professions are paid well too.

Misplaced priorities...

I'm one of those that believe the largese was wasteful.

We should set our priorities right.

Our educational system is in shambles... how many people get rewarded for doing exceptionally well in that sector or in technological or even technical innovations.

It's not hate. The super falcons have done well and it right to appreciate their efforts. But we should also set our priorities in the right order to get a rounded balance.

The IGP just came out to say the pension of Nigerian Police officers that give a better part of their life to the service of the country is miserable.

This is a spending spree. It's reckless!
Super falcons are not paid monthly or even yearly, its not a salary. its more of performance bonus or contract. Even for those on salaries in europe, I mean the players playing for the likes of Chealsea, Barcelona, Madrit etc - are their salaries equals to the workers in health, education, and other sectors?

Another point is that, you have a limited professional life span as a footballer. Your peak is between the ages of 22-32; only the grace of God can sustain you thereafter.

Please take the above into consideration.

Footballers get paid £250k pounds weekly for kicking a round leather ball around the pitch in the UK. In this same UK, experienced professionals earning £250k annually are like gods. That's the global reality. Career in sport is a short term one, and so attracts high remuneration. Let the girls receive the recognition in peace, they're not entitled to pensions after retirement.

The payment to the super falcons shouldn't have been a thing to talked about if President Bola Tinubu comes out and said I am rewarding them with my personal money. If he likes let him dash them $1m each, it doesn't concerns me or anybody, but from govt coffers is why people are complaining bcus this players has been paid match bonuses and camp allowances

Pay them, for how many months?
Is it that they're being owed salaries or asking for better welfare packages!

They said Tinubu has first class in accounting.

An accountant that said statistics is not useful.

Tinubu is on same level with Monday Okpebhloho.

Maybe he wanted to pronounce 10,000 dollars and ended up pronouncing 100,000 dollars.

They don't want to correct the mistake so they decided to play along.
this makes more sense!

It was written to castigate the payment. But it is an opinion piece, while I think it is excessive they can slash it by half, knowing Nigeria and the publicity it gets it may do the job it was intended to do. The awareness shoudl create a pathway for more women to choose sports since they will hope to achieve a WAFCON victory and earn such largesse. Nigeria is a country that sometimes relies on opinion pieces devoid of concrete arguments.

The writer lost me at paying teachers and doctors as if ex presidents are flying to Europe is because doctors are not paid enough or low payment of teachers is the root cause problems in public education. For them to do an indepth piece on the rot in public education will take them energy and sacrifices they may not want to render but to sit on their chairs and write opinion pieces to emotionally charge some people is easier.

Pseudo moralities

The case of Judas complaining about the expensive perfume given to christ. How he should be used for helping the poor.

It's more a reward for success. Strive for success and you will get more at your level. It's not everyday people succeed. It's rare. that's why it's compensated. Maybe next afcon they won't make it pass the quarters. They won't get nothing either.

The earlier you realise those in entertainment will keep getting huge pay from government the better for you. Entertainers keep the people distracted from asking questions, asking for what they really deserve. They have alot of influence on the people so government use them as a tool for control. They will get better rewards than a teacher, banker, doctor e.t.c.
