Once upon a time in Nigeria, the slogan was "Ghana Must Go!" There was no social media, no internet and no mass citizen journalism like we've today.

Now, the tables have turned and the slogan in Ghana now is "Nigerians Must Go!"

They're complaining about us in South Africa, Dubai, India, Malaysia, Vietnam and now Ghana; how do we go to other countries and instead of overwhelmingly contributing positively to those countries, some few elements among us engage in widespread crime (cult fights, illicit drug dealings, prostitution, cybercrime etc)?

While the Ghanaians in this particular instance are right to protect their country from a looming epidemic brought about by some criminal minded Nigerians in their midst, they should be careful not to also taint the image of hardworking, honest and diligent Nigerians.

even if igbos get their country today... the things that is making them migrate out of the SE region will still exist in that new country.

igbos will still need to trade and relate with other countries even if they have their own independent country..

it also will not stop igbos from acquiring passports of other countries if visa restrictions are placed on their independent country passport which means the criminals among them can still commit crimes using another countries passport which will also negatively affect that country.

No country, tribe region or group on this planet earth that doesn't have criminal elements. So stigmatizing and stereotyping the whole ibo tribe for crime committed by individuals is unfair especially when it is coming from people you share the same country. Igbos are so much hated in Nigeria by almost all the major and minor tribes. The atrocities being perpetrated by the Hausa-Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria, if it were the Ibos the entire igbo people would have been wiped out by the
Nigerian authorities.
Ibo marginalization and hatred in Nigeria is very real and obvious that they even boast of it. Ibo marginalization is borne out of hatred, envy and jealousy

the way Nigeria is structured, ethnic nations that control a state can never ever be relegated, i:gbos control at least 6 to 7 states in Nigeria, the states means indigenous government officials ( i:gbo officials ) will always receive funds.

if i:gbos were marginalized then that means since 1970 they have not received any allocation from the FG and they have never held any Federal Government political appointments, and never been governors, senators, local government chairmen in their own states. It means they would not have federal universities, federal polytechnics, federal secondary schools, Federal primary schools, federal hospitals, federal customs immigration offices, federal airports, other federal agencies, federal roads e.t.c

i:gbos are pros at emotional blackmailing can we other people to manipulate them to do what i:gbos want.

i:gbos have never ever been marginalised... they only cry marginalisation in states they are not indigenous to so that they can get government positions in those states that is also one of the reasons they are the only ones that want "State of Origin" removed from the constitution.

Forget all that. They just want to get back at us for the Ghana must go deportations in the 80s. We did them wrong by deporting them when their economy was in tatters just as ours is currently.

This is incorrect and a trivialization of the current issues in Ghana. Ghanaians have largely moved on from the 1983 episode after former President Shehu Shagari ordered undocumented migrants of 2 million from Ghana and elsewhere to leave Nigeria which I witnessed. I still maintain deep friendships with my Ghanain friends till date with many working in high-ranking positions on Wall Street NY and more. Documented Ghanaians such as my buddies and their families and others were NEVER affected.

Some people from a section of the East of Nigeria have relentlessly commited heinous crimes in Ghana and their names and pictures were well published in the media by the Ghana Police for years now BUT things got WORSE in the last two yeaes. Other ethnic groups of Nigeria have been peaceful for decades infact the Yorubas and Hausas have even before the creation of Nigeria a d Gold Coast by the British Colonialists arrived in Ghana and engaged in trading activities for over 200 years and Yorubas have been in Ghana longer than the Hausas.

The recent bank armed robberies were embarrassingly done by a gang of 5 South East of Nigeria gang who were arrested by the Ghana Police and they did so from 2024 to 2025. Hard drugs trafficking, kidnappings for ransom, human trafficking, money counterfeiting, etc, are some of the other heinous crimes commited in Ghana by these bad eggs from among the South East of Nigeria thereby tarnishing the image of other over 300 distinct ethnic groups from Nigeria.
