We need to stop this estimation and do a proper census using biometrics to capture authentic information from real people. I don't know why this country is afraid to find out the actual tribal and religious makeup of its own people. |

There’s no way SE won’t be low in contrast to SW There’s a lot of movement away from SE especially to the SW or SS I don’t know if it’s political or not but it’s real A big chunk of the Igbo youth are base in SW or SS and still moving There’s a big wave of people moving away from the east |

Raskimonojendor:The entire population especially the North-West is over estimated, we're not more than 180 million people. |

A very accurate and perfect survey. I hope by the time the FG is ready to do the proper census we won't have any region opposing it. Meanwhile, I'm laughing at some people trying to fault the stats, no how the South can come near the North in numbers. Check around and see their governors, the number of their wives, and children and go out there to interview an average northerners, a man of below 30 years old is already with over 5 children. |

South east is lowest because they are all coming to Lagos. Not to talk of others that are moving to India, china and Ghana with their excuse of developing those places |

I have been stating this fact for years now but people don't know. Clean data from JAMB, INEC, NCC and Google maps show proven low Igbo population with large expanse of green agrarian unoccupied land in the South-East geopolitical zone which has the smallest land mass area in Nigeria. It is incontrovertible evidence that prior to the use of space and technology, the population of Southeast indigenes have been inflated for political and corruption reasons. Giving Southeast 5 states from a land mass about the size of Oyo State is a grave injustice to the South West and North which are regions with both high population and huge land mass. The Southeast political elite have been ripping off Nigeria by not turning such a small place with small population that receives huge billions of VAT distribution and federal allocations into Dubai or Doha. It's pure wickedness to even yet unborn generations from the Southeast except it's challenged and stopped. Such small enclave with small land mass, small population, huge allocation should not have been the headquarters of poverty and crime in Southern Nigeria. As a matter of fact, the 3 major tribes in Nigeria are Hausa, Yoruba and Fulani. SmartPolician:That has been done. JAMB data use real biometrics, NIN and registered GSM number. Southeast always turn out the least! It's so bad that on the analysis of JAMB data, it reveals that about 75% of the JAMB candidates with state of origin from Southeast are registered in South East and about 20% are within the states that border Southeast. Only about 5% are registered in the South West and North. By extrapolation, less than 25% of the total population of Igbo is actually domiciled outside Igboland. It is factually wrong that most Igbo are even domiciled outside Southeast. The population has always been small but overbloated for corrupt purposes by the Igbo political elite and their collaborators in Federal Government.

They are not over estimated. Just check around and see from our politicians. An average politician from the North will have atleast three wives with above 10 children still counting. stonemasonn: |

SmartPolician:will you fund it? who told you the government is afraid of conducting proper census? if you see the amount the national population commission quoted for the federal government the last time the census was to be held, you will run. that was why buhari kept postponing national census till the end of his tenure. |

The North is definitely not bigger in population than the South. Some LGA's don't even have up to 20 houses of people living there. E.g Kalgo LGA in Birnin Kebbi. |

South west 44million including the over 20million Igbos in south west. North central including Abuja 33million with over 10million Igbos. North west 63million with over 5million igbos. South south 33million with millions of Igbos both aboriginal Igbos and others. Without even mentioning North east with Adamawa,Taraba etc With my summation,I think Igbos are by far the most populous tribe in Nigeria. |
