Whenever I remember how inflation has skyrocketed and crippled the Nigeria economy, rendering the value of money useless. I weep for this country.

How our leaders both past and present had done nothing about the adverse of inflation and devaluation of the naira. it saddens my heart.

What do you remember in the past that was so cheap that you can afford, that is now too expensive that you can no longer afford?

You are not asking an intelligent question. There's never a generation that was contented with the economic situation of there time. Go back and ask individuals on the streets in the 70s and 80s and hear what they think about the government at that time.

Life in the 80s was far far better without much hassle, because with your meagre salary as a grade ll level 05 step 1 teacher, your salary is ₦166.00, Grade level 04 step 1 was ₦148.00 after tax. Standing fan was selling for ₦50.00, pair of Easy Jean, Second Image, Sun and Sea Acapulco was selling for ₦10.00. And some other stuffs like green bottle was ₦1.00, bottle of Gordon gin was ₦10.00. Jamb form in 1980 was ₦10.00. Just imagine the cost of these items now.

All those things you listed above, their prices outside Nigeria have remain same for over 2 decades now.

You can do it same way your parents or older generation explained to you about the economy in the 70's --> 90's

The careless subsidy removal that the government placed the blame of the backwards of the country on was the major cause

It rendered the purchasing power of the Naira useless and resulting in untold hardship

The removal can be liken to amputation of a gangrenous foot without anaesthesia even after the brash removal the country is still borrowing upadan for projects that does not have any significant direct impact on the local populace

Fuel used to be N65 per litre.

The only commodity whose price didn't really appreciate geometrically is beer...

If the price of beer were to move like that of fuel, a lot of us would be sober.

Just tell them what the minimum wage was as at that time and what the exchange rate was.
You will be shocked that they understand everything and knows that it's not only in Nigeria that the economy is facing issues, and Nigerias case is worse because we have bad leaders.

These younger generation get sense pass us and the older generation, they will surely act differently when it's their time to lead, for now them dey Watch and Observe.
