Iyanya pledges N500K to nurse mocked by colleagues for coming to work despite strike
Popular singer, Iyanya seeks to reward a nurse who was confronted and ridiculed by her colleagues for showing up to work despite the national strike action by the union.

A video which popped up online shows an elderly nurse who was being mocked by her colleagues for coming to work despite the strike.

recalls that days ago, nurses in the country had gone on strike to protest over unmet demands, including improved welfare, fair allowances, and better working conditions in federal health institutions.

The video sparked sympathy from Iyanya who sought to gift her 500K.

However, some netizens opine that he would only be rewarding bad behaviour as the strike was a collective action which she ought to be a part of.

Iyanya said …

“Can someone find her for me, I want to give her 500k. She is not a health care worker for the money but for human lives.
Someone find her for me please.”

One netizen replied …

“Why do some Nigerians love rewarding bad behaviorhuh

Iyanya replied …

“What’s your definition of bad behavior?
A nurse decided not to go on strike so she can save lives being at work is bad behavior to you? She is an essential worker and she deserves some compensation, and the way she was humiliated was wrong. Find her for me, I have 500k for her immediately.”

That's a good gesture but it's a shame that this is what our health sector has been reduced to. Our leaders need to do better.

#500k is more than what Professors earn in a month. Many of these nurses don't even earn up to 250k in a government hospitals. More reason nobody wants to focus on education again.

We'll keep breeding unintelllectual clout chasers like Jarvis, Peller, Papaya, etc if we don't invest in the right sectors.

This kind gesture of Iyanya reminds me of the early 90s during Babangida's regime. Primary school teachers at that time went on strike when we were preparing for common entrance exam. One of my schoolteachers organized a free lesson for us but she was seriously scolded by her colleagues. She had to change the location to her house where she taught us freely for over 1 month. I don't know where she is today but I pray that God will reward her and her children bountifully. 🙏 May God bless you Mrs Obanubi of Iloro Community Primary School.

Please can you tell us what you were doing when President Jonathan who was not a Yoruba man was in power?

Were you an enemy of Nigeria then?

When did you repented if you were?

Hypocrisy is in the bloodline!

According to Ipob, it is a bad behavior to come to work to save lives despite strikes... na dem, they can't just hide their bitterness.
Peter Obi will never see this and donate to this kind of a compassionate worker who values lives over money but he will be showing off to score cheap political scores. God bless Iyanya for the pure hearted donations devoid of political camera. E go too shock people who go enter heaven and who go enter enter hell fire.

It's bad behavior because Obi is not president. Foolish idiots that still keep finding excuses for Obi who had all doctors on strike for 13 months. How can such a move even not warrant death sentence... THE SAME OBI they want to use to scam the people.

He will send national doctors on strike for a year and would claim he's trying to reform the sector. Just as useless and stupid as his bandwagon of followers.

It was the 'IRON LADY' Magret Thatcher that broke the back bone of the working unions in Britain with her 'NO WORK NO PAY' policy in the 80s. At that time, the unions had turn strike to a routine. The are always on strike over everything and nothing at all.

What exactly is he rewarding her for?
For taking sides with the oppressive government who loot money instead of improving the welfare of her colleagues?
That's crap.

only fool would support this, your colleagues went on strike for a better welfare, you're sabotaging their efforts, if you have a qualified nurse not auxiliary/quack,you'll understand what those nurses go through, despite being a degree holder with specialty their pay is nothing to right home about, and they spend all their lives with patients in the hospital without recognition little wonder some of them are irritable, their counterparts abroad make in a month what many of them make in years, they were being neglected for 9 years despite court order for approved scheme of service, one idiot is now sabotaging the collective effort, another mumu is rewarding with useless 500k,I repeat if you have a graduate nurse in your family still working in this country, that's the only way you can understand their pains, the only joy they have is to travel out and government is still blocking all the avenues by making verification difficult, if you don't want braindrain why not do the needful and make them comfortable in their home country, many of them spend millions to become registered nurses yet no recognition.
