At least our team won the maiden edition of FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1985 hosted by China, as well as the 1993, 2007, 2013, and 2015 editions (becoming only the second team since Brazil to win it back to back); making them the first team ever to win the junior world cup five times.

Impressive! This victory was predictable though.

The Nigeria-Senegal semi-finals which Nigeria won by a close 75-68 was infact adjudged before the game as the FINAL before the FINALS. The foot works and basketball handling skills were quite good.

Kudos to Nigeria, the girls and their coaching crew on this victory! NEXT mission is to take on the global stage beyond Africa.

[I would want to differ a little, if you watch Nigeria has stalled in the age grade competition since Politics and tribalism reared it ugly head there Nigeria hasn't made any progress again compared to when it was left to best talents from Niger-Delta, South East and a sprinkle of South West being raw talents from the streets, but now Politicians bring their kids from some Academies in Europe to play football because they have seen that it's the escape route for the poor. Till we jettison that Political mindset Nigeria at youth levels will never rise again]
