The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its gubernatorial candidate in the last election, Ladi Adebutu, on Monday, endorsed President Bola Tinubu, as their candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The party’s state chairman, Abayomi Tella, disclosed this in Sagamu, during the official campaign flag-off of the PDP for the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North federal constituency bye-election.

The National Vice Chairman of PDP, Engr Kamorudeen Ajisafe, presented the party’s flag to the candidate, Bolarinwa Oluwole, who is seeking to replace late occupant of the seat, Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who passed away in January.

Addressing the gathering, Tella said Ogun PDP has adopted Tinubu as candidate because he is from the Southwest.

“We will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Though he is in the opposition, let us support our own from the Southwest. Our support is for Tinubu, and we will stand by him. We are ready to give him our votes. The whole of the southwest will give him our votes.

“We are going to support him. We will give him our votes. All we want in that election is fairness and just,” Tella said.

Also speaking, Adebutu said Ogun PDP holds no grudge with Tinubu and his candidacy.

He, however, accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of bad governance and vowed that the PDP will challenge the ruling APC in the state come 2027.

He said, “I was with the President in January and I told him that we have no issue with his leadership and candidacy.

“We, however, have issue with bad governance in Ogun state, that is why we must have this platform to challenge bad governance.”

He emphasized the importance of winning the bye election and the need to challenge bad governance in the State.

Adebutu noted that the party won 34 wards out of 35 in previous election in the federal constituency, saying the APC led government has lost goodwill due to its conduct.

Oluwole urged Governor Dapo Abiodun to allow a peaceful election devoid of any electoral malpractices

Daily Trust reports that 55-man campaign committee is chaired by Hon Damilare Bello, while Arc Kayode Adebayo will serve as the Director General.

This endorsement won’t increase Tinubu’s votes in Ogun compared to the last election. Why? most people won't go out on election day to vote especially with Tinubu's dismal performace, especially those who don't need the 10K per vote. This is a historical fact.

Those who will vote are divided into:

1. Those who have been convinced that nobody else can do better, and hope that somehow, things will get better in his second term. They have limited idea what deep shit Nigeria is into under Tinubu

2. A group of people who are united by hate against Igbos. Someone, because his father sold the land he wished he would've inherited, to an Igbo man, hopes that if Tinubu is reelected, government will make some laws so he can get his family land back without paying for it.

3. An increasingly large number of people who are now opposed to another Tinubu term. These people are progressive, informed, aware, and motivated by hope for a better tomorrow. They will vote for opposition.

What we are experiencing in our politics have never been this bad. Tinubu always set all the wrong precedence. This is the reason I said the South has been bought and Obi chances with bought the South and North is not feasible anymore.
If he wants to be close to power at least to contribute he should not follow those Obidience who live in delusion thinking that 2027 can even look like 2023. Politics is all about strategy and a wise man will take the best approach. It's only a Northerner than stand a chance right now.

It’s over for PDP ! I shake my head for PDP !! First it was Osun ; now Ogun is endorsing the former drug Lord as their candidate! What a shame !! See what Wike has reduced PDP to ! A party that was in power for 16 years uninterrupted! Is this how ACN , ANPP and CPC were endorsing PDP when they were opposition!? What a shame!
