So, from what I see here. The Only option is to bring GEJ back. As he constitutionally tie to do just 4yrs and bounce, then power returns to the North.
Any other thing is a fallacy.
Probably the angle Dr. Abati is pursuing, to promote his former boss he needs to demarket the current opposition leading name from the south.

I don't know how old you are but maybe start from watching documentaries about Mandela.

If you think it's about supporting Obi blindly, maybe go through my previous posts where I even compared Obi's promise to Buhari's. He eventually didn't keep it. We can only judge a man by what he does, not what he says he will do.
papyjaypaul:
Any politician will say anything to get what they want. I remember Buhari said he will serve one term and he got there and started sermonizing us on how he wished he was younger. When he was almost done, he told us he was tired of being President, he couldn't wait to go home (July 2022). He didn't hand over to his vice or let him run the show when he knew all these.
Obi may do it, he may not do it. I don't really care. Right now, he has said he will do it, when he gets there, if he will do it is yet to be seen but I don care about the politicians, am I stating facts or fiction? Did Mandela say he will do 1 term or nothuh

On 7 July 1996, in a television broadcast President Nelson Mandela confirmed the rumours that he would not stand for re-election in 1999.

This is in accordance to what he had initially said when he was sworn in as the country's first democratic president in 1994. The South African constitution has a stipulation that states that the president can only serve for two terms as the head of state. Mandela felt one term was enough as he had already laid the foundation for a better future for all. Mandela did not publicly chose his successor. This may have been due to the fierce competition between Thabo Mbeki and Cyril Ramaphosa, who were both favourites for the position. Most commentators hold the view that a behind the scenes endorsement by Nelson Mandela and some old guards of the African National Congress (ANC) swung things in Mbeki's favour. Mbeki was ultimately elected ANC president in 1997, thus putting him in line for the country's presidency ahead of Ramaphosa

that is not what I asked you.

1. when tinubu said "emilokan", how come these same people calling obi desperate did not call tinubu desperate?

2. I still wonder, why is the focus on obi and not on tinubu and how he is governing nigeria?

If you believe Emilokan actually means desperation then I wonder why you won't believe 'I will do only one term' is desperation.

Summary, Obi is desperate simple.

But let face it. That's the only way, this can work. This is what can bring both the North and South to the Table to remove the person occupying Aso Rock Currently. Anything outside this cannot work. The campaign should be about bring GEJ BACK.

Nobody will taste that kind of power and leave after 4yrs. Lol. Obidients and the way they attacked everyone during election showed clearly the desperation of Obi. Because of how Obidients operated, Obi can not be President. Anyone that criticize Obi, their life is at stake.

Yes it's true no politician will honestly agrees to do one term, but in this case everyone of out there forced Obi to say so.
Majority wants Tinubu and APC out don't want the power to go back North since the South still have one term of four years to run. And Obi said ok, if it's so if elected I will do the remaining four years of the South and hand over to the north. We know it's difficult for any politician to really hand over power after one term but in this case it's the Southerners and Tinubu/APC haters that forced Obi to say so shikena

The only ticket that will sail is the "Obi-El Rufai" combo. With this duo, ADC will claim the Presidency from APC. Obi is a force in the South, El Rufai is another force in the North. Tinubu will not be able to withstand this combination.

Atiku should wait till 2031. He should play the long-term game, the way Tinubu did with Buhari.

You cannot be putting energy, time and resources into becoming a leader without being desperate. Desperation is a clear sign of seriousness.

All politicians are desperate - but how you manage your desperation matters. You cannot allow your desperation to make you cut corners; that's totally wrong and evil.
From this your illustration, please what is Peter Obi doing then?

' if Igbo man show say e dey for you... E de for you.' this is not about being Igbo, Hausa, Igala or whatnot. My political affiliation tilt towards PDP as a kid till now. I don't mean the Wike version of PDP o😌

Though I've never being a registered member.🥴. Obi and Atiku are offshoot of PDP. I see the other party with broom that only care about sweeping our national treasures into their private account as citadel for 'Ligion.' ... Pun intended.

Emilokan is also free to dream. But his Dream brought nothing but nightmare to plethora of people. So, he's not even an option. He's Tested and not trusted.

Answers to your questions.

1. When Tinubu said “Emilokan”, he was widely called desperate — it trended for weeks. So if Obi now says “I’ll do only one term”, that’s also desperation, just wrapped in emotional packaging. Let’s not pretend one is holy and the other is hungry for power. Both want power.

2. Focus is on Obi because he talks like a shadow president. Tinubu is already facing the heat of governance, but Obi wants to run again — so yes, people will question his moves. You can’t be in the ring and not expect punches.

who and who "widely called" tinubu desperate?

how does trending for weeks answer my question?

1. when tinubu said "emilokan", how come these same people calling obi desperate did not call tinubu desperate?

what is the "heat of governance" that tinubu is facing?

is obi the only person interested in contesting again?

so far, how have you questioned tinubus moves?

2. I still wonder, why is the focus on obi and not on tinubu and how he is governing nigeria?

You should consider numbering your questions properly next time — some are mixed in without labels — but I’ll try to respond accordingly.

I believe I’ve already addressed points 1 and 2. Let’s not revise history — when Tinubu said “Emilokan”, he was heavily criticised and called desperate by many, even within his own party. That criticism trended for weeks across media and public discourse. So pretending that never happened isn’t honest.

Now, to your other points:

The “heat of governance” refers to the daily scrutiny, backlash, and pressure that comes with leading a country. Every move Tinubu makes is under a microscope — from economic reforms to security strategies — and he’s taking both praise and blame, as expected.

Obi is not the only one contesting, yes — but he's the loudest in the room right now, so naturally, attention follows him. If you put yourself in the spotlight, expect some heat.

He has every right to contest again, no doubt. But let’s be real — this sudden “I’ll do only one term” statement comes off as political desperation. It’s a classic move to soften opposition and fast-track support.

And finally, you have every right to question Tinubu’s moves — so far it’s part of the democratic process. But let it be done honestly and not from a place of bias.

Thanks.

Nelson Mandela was not desperate when he promised to serve one term.

Those against Obi for his one term pledge didn't vote for Obi in 2023.

So they can never see any positive thing.

The blackmail of 'Obi didn't attend buhari's burial' has disappeared. They have launched another blackmail against one term.

If Obi says he wants to be life president, they won't be satisfied either.
You want to compare a whole Nelson Mandela to Someone líle Peter Obi? Obidients sha, una own too much.

Anyway, Mandela didn't promise to serve one term, he stepped away, despite beng begged to stay, because of old age and wanting to be with his family as he had spent a huge chunk of his life in prison.

I myself think the most important person in all of this "Peter Obi one term promise" is Atiku and I doubt Atiku will allow him go first.

Poor Reuben Abati, Obidients at coming for him big time.

Just like to say it is the right of the south to do 8 yrs straight.

If the campaign is that south must complete 8 yrs after Buhari. Then obi is very logical to say he will do only 4 yrs to complete it.

Definitely not as desperate as emilokan that rigged the election. Absolutely not as desperate as Waziri who still wants to be president in his 90s.

Afterall, Abati is Atiku’s supporter and an agbadorian lately. So we are not surprised with his sycophantic rhetorics.
