raumdeuter:Local government should be allowed to function properly . Whatever amount that is being padded yearly into the budget as constituency project funds should be channeled to Local governments. Legislators should focus on their primary duty of making laws and act as proper checks and balance for the executive arm of government . The idea of legislators encroaching on executive’s function of execution of projects is an anomaly that has been allowed for too long . |

The idea of lawmakers who reside in Abuja getting billions of naira in constituency allowance only executing a handful of irrelevant projects in their constituency (where they hardly stay ) needs to be done away with . Let the local governments be empowered by our laws to actually function as an independent tier of government that can function without being tied to state government’s apron strings . I mean real laws , not just one or two Supreme Court judgement paying lip service to Local government autonomy . With that in place , I believe the local governments will be challenged to actually execute projects that will touch the lives of residents of the LGA . The fact that the officers of the LGA from the chairman to the least person resides within the LGA should be enough reason why they must see to it that projects which speaks to the peculiar challenge of the LGA are executed . Enough of lawmakers stealing from the nation’s wealth all in the name of constituency projects . They should face their primary duty of making laws and overseeing the activities of the executive |

BlueRayDick:There are some places where the LG chairmen have been useless and the Legislator from Abuja that are using their constituency projects for the good of the people I have seen Gbajas constituency and Adeola constituency projects and they looked impressive. I don't know what the LG chairmen of those areas did. Even if the chairmen are doing well, then the more the good projects, the merrier for the populace There is nothing that said that the LG chairmen in Zamfara wont have spent money on cemetery as well. The Senator might have been a LG chairman who got promoted to Senator sef. Point is who get sense, get sense and who no get sense, No go get sense. Probably the thinking of those who created the law is that the more outlet for people to get dividends of governance the better so if one is useless, Maybe at least 1 will be useful |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDiick: 8:31pm On Aug 05, 2025 |
raumdeuter:Gbaja and Adeola are only able to do what they are doing because of the huge constituency allowance they are able to “ collobi “ . Let that same amount be made available to the LGA without the state governor stealing out of it and u will be surprised the kind of projects they can come up with that will better the life of the people I’m saying this as someone residing in a LCDA where the chairman has been executing projects that speaks to the actual needs of the people . I believe if the chairman has access to more funds without having to kowtow to Lagos state government he would even do better than whatever the law maker representing the constituency in Abuja can do for the people . |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 8:39pm On Aug 05, 2025 |
BlueRayDiick:A good chairman project doesnt still stop the legislators constituency projects E.g Say instead of putting 500m in the hand of LG chairman, 300m goes to LG 100m for HoR and 100M to Senator for the same area The risk with the former is a useless LG chairman leaves the people with nothing while in the 2n scenario they can hope at least one of the 3 will be useful |

raumdeuter:Constituency project actually makes no sense to me. There are 3 tiers of government , let them function as they should and u won’t need a lawmaking body carrying out projects that should be executive’s primary duty. The legislature acting as meddlesome interloper in projects affecting people at the lowest level of government is a distraction to their actual job of checking the executive . I hope u know it is very very difficult to actually hold legislators accountable when they don’t utilize the so called constituency project as they ought to. There’s no structure of checks and balances in law that monitors and hold them accountable for constituency projects . It just give the vibes of police doing VIO job, road safety doing LASTMA job , etc . |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 8:48pm On Aug 05, 2025 |
Legislators have no business doing projects. Their job is to make laws At best they should make laws that attract local businesses to their area like tax breaks, or laws that mandate spending on certain industries prevalent in their areas. |

raumdeuter:Legislators doing constituency projects make no sense...the only reason that thing has been allowed is make money dey touch everybody hand, and not because of any fail-safe to guarantee projects get done. Look at it this way, each cadre of government has what they consider their fair share of stealing, that 500M split three ways means there are a lot more persons putting hand into what's limited money, meaning even less gets to the people. But beyond the nonsense of fair share of stealing, legislative duties are purely lawmaking, anybody that's interested in doing LGA-level projects should go and contest for LGA Chairmanship. |

Theflint1:Exactly my thoughts. There’s no way someone who stays most of his time in Abuja will claim he has what it takes to execute projects that touch the lives of his people in let’s say Ilaje/Ese odo in ondo state. Let the LGA chairman handle that and let him face the job of making laws that will impact on the economic , social and political well being of his constituents |

TemporaryHansel:The rocky road BeeTee took to get here from the Mr Gox hack that crashed the price to 1 cent etc has no Govt design behind it. Without Silk Road, the marketplace for illegalities such as drugs, guns, fraud amd even murders for hire that turned BeeTee into their instrument of exchange, there would be no BeeTee today. There is no Govt design behind all the challenges BeeTee has been through or the way it has emerged. And why would Govt want to undermine their own currency which is on top? Some people are just very steeewpeed Conspiracy theorists. Currency is already digital. I can tap my phone anywhere to pay for anything. |
