He doesn't have to get married in the US to file for his wife's green card. If you are a citizen you can get married anywhere it doesn't affect the green card process.
Regardless his money, his life, his choice he has the right to do whatever he likes or whatever makes him happy.

Its easier to process green card if marriage is done on US soil. Same here in UK.

That is not true! As long as your marriage is genuine wherever you marry doesn't matter. It is divorce that gives a lot of people problems if it is done outside the US (for those who were previously married) because divorce is not property documented especially in a country like Nigeria. I live here in the US.

For the purpose of granting visa, if you been through it in past you will understand what am saying. You are granted residence permit easily when the marriage is done on their soil. If you did it abroad, they will request for all manner of documents and will still reject entry permit on balance of probability 😀😀😀

That is not true! Maybe that is applicable in the UK I won't argue about that. This is United States, I have gone thru the process. If they are asking you for other documents it is not because you didn't get married on their soil it is because they want more proof of your marriage, even those who got married here in the US are still subjected to that.
For instance you can be asked to bring letters from family members to show that they are aware of the marriage.
You sound as if marriage certificate on their soil is all you need or as if they are asking for other documents because you didn't marry on their soil.
If you like marry in front of white house they will still ask you for some other documents that might be necessary.
