Jock Itch: A Permanent Solution Needed by Idonweak(op): 7:08am On Aug 06, 2025
Hello Nairalanders, for almost a year now, I've been struggling with jock itch. At first, I didn't know what it was called; I just knew I would get very itchy on my thighs around my private area.

So, I went online and discovered that what I had is called jock itch - a fungal infection that can be caused by moisture around the pubic area. Jock itch is very itchy and leaves a very ugly rash on the skin.

I used Funbact A, and it worked - the rash would clear off. However, immediately I stopped using it, it would come back, and the rash would spread faster. Right now, it's back again, and I want to get Funbact A. But I feel like there should be a very strong antifungal cream better than Funbact A, which is why I'm here. I need recommendations from health practitioners in the house. What can I use to get rid of this infection?

NB: The picture is gotten from Google.

Are you male or female?
Sometimes, private part pestilences affect the genders differently.

Again, why pull a pic off Google when you could have used yours to better illustrate your problem?

My take: we tend to stop or suspend treatment once we notice signs of recovery which is wrong.
Treatment should be a continuous streak to enable whatever caused the infection to be weakened and eliminated.

Half-treatment may give the organism room to develop resistance to treatment, thereby leading you to ingest higher doses in subsequent treatment or to seek alternative solutions as the initial treatment must have been rendered ineffective.

Go to hospital and see a doctor, nairaland is not hospital.

Meanwhile, make sure you are not wearing 1 underwear for 2 days. Improve your general hygiene

Do you stay alone? If yes, sleep naked every night. It’s caused by heat.
Wear loose boxers, and make sure to let air go into that region everytime.

Lastly and most importantly, trim down if you are obese.

Stop applying any cream down there.

You've been applying cream but it keeps coming back. You haven't thought of treating it from inside you?. Why is it coming back? Because it's inside. Deal with it from inside you

You should have just gone to the hospital and see a doctor, instead of coming online and asking for advice from people who aren't medical practitioners.

I used myconazole to clear mine in 2 weeks, symptoms usually goes away in a week, but if you stop using it after one week it will come back more stronger and more formidable than before. Therefore it is advisable to use to drug from good three weeks even after all symptoms are gone and make sure you apply beyond the affected area so as to ensure maximum area coverage of the drugs

You never still go hospital to check the infection and kill it from the inside.
Re: Jock Itch: A Permanent Solution Needed by aorseer: 10:19am On Aug 06, 2025
It's internal before it manifest outside. So you need to treat it in two folds by taking drugs and using antifungal cream. Consult a dermatologist for what to take. Note that it takes weeks to treat

I had the same problem for more than 10 years, which is always difficult to treat. I have visited the hospital with various prescriptions. See the solution attached.

Use vaseline blue seal ONLY after you have washed the area with ordinary water or black soap. The goal is to avoid chemicals which may irritate the blisters. It will eventually heal and restore the skin.

Clear your gut! All issues start from there. You need apple cider vinegar and also probiotics. Jock itch can also be related to candida.

This is the change u need. Wear loosed underwear and boxers. Not tights. If u live alone, sleep naked and allow air to flow in well.

When dealing with an infection like this you must use the treatment long after the symptoms disappear. That is, if it disappears after 2 weeks, keeping using it for another 2 weeks.

Since Funbact A has worked, use it again with Damattol.

This is important:

1. Apply Funbact A first and allow it some time to be absorbed before you apply Damatol.

2. Avoid every potential cause of reinfection. Keep the area clean and dry. Don't use the same pair of underwear after you've had a bath.

Having said that, your best bet is to go to a government hospital and get a final authoritative diagnosis and treatment plan.

Bro do a few minutes research of natural remedies. Two come to mind, tree tea essential oil and star anise spice that may be hard to find in Naija but try to get it. You can grind it up and put in capsules to take orally or make your own salve. I found one reputable link for you. Good luck and health to you.

A friend had it during my Yabatech days, so disgusting 🫣.
Make sure you treat it now
Re: Jock Itch: A Permanent Solution Needed by Agent470(m): 11:06am On Aug 06, 2025
Discontinue Funbact A. It will only make the spot resistant to antifungal treatment and the the skin will look dark.
Get Terbinafine HCL Cream 1%. Rub it after you have bathed with a strong antifugal soap like Dudu Osun. Change your underwear daily. If you do not start seeing a positive change in 3-4 days add Terbinafine tablets to the treatment. If after you do this e still no work. I no know again oh. grin

You have to remain on the anti fungal permanently. Do not pack it like cream, just enough to spread over the skin area. There are also tablets for it, very effective. Try boosting your immune too, eat well, drink water, worry less.
