I guess u re working as a helper or some junior area of specialisation or sth... Swimming isn't required for that specialty

Why telling us your salary? Either you earn 1 billion dollars or naira, something is certain... Water doesn't understand money language and it can take anyone's life at any time .

To be on the safer side just go for swimming training to learn how to swim and make sure you put on your safety jacket anytime you are at work...

If you have aquaphobia, please consider quitting the job because no amount of salary can equate your life, and 480k is not huge enough to die on the offshore. Most of my course mates back then when we finished NYSC that got offshore jobs were earning a million plus for a two weeks in, two weeks out, and that's like almost a decade ago. I got similar offer later but never considered it cos I have aquaphobia.


Yes I applied for the job myself because we were just throwing our CVs everywhere as young Engineering graduates aiming to work in the oil sector, but when the job finally came and I realized it was offshore, I had to chicken out cos life is more precious than money for me.


So consider quiting if you are aquaphobia cos no amount of swimming class can change that.


But if you do not have aquaphobia, then you can consider taking a swimming class to improve on your swimming ability in case of emergency. I wish you all the best.

Do your job involve going into water? If no don't ever think of quiting because, I am sure before you start the job the company might have send you for sea survival training ..... and been able to survive offshore is not about knowing how to swim

Don't let anybody advice you wrongly bro, quit that job. Your life is precious.
Once you quit like this, your boss will see that you take your life seriously although you will be jobless and valueless but you would have at least gained recognition at your place of work as the dumbest fellow.
