Valuejet To Sue KWAM1 For Displaying Unruly Behaviour At Abuja Airport. by Omihanifa(op): 10:42pm On Aug 06, 2025
Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde aka KWAM1, risks being placed on a ‘no-fly’ list by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, following his unruly behaviour during boarding at the Abuja airport and disrupting flight operations.

In an incident report by Captain Ranti of ValueJet, which was exclusively seen by The Street Journal, the incident occurred on Tuesday August 5.

According to Captain Ranti who was the pilot in command of Flight VK201 from Abuja to Lagos, during boarding which commenced as scheduled at 8:10 am, KWAM1 approached the aircraft at about 08:15–08:20 carrying a gold flask of unknown content.

Ground staff requested, as per standard procedure, to verify the content of the flask but he vehemently refused.

He was seen drinking from the flask and the ground staff suspected that it contains alcohol, a substance prohibited onboard aircraft in Nigeria.

Instead, he responded with comments such as, “Do you know who I am? You have no right to tell me to open my flask.”

“As he reached the foot of the aircraft, security personnel reiterated that he could not board without complying with the inspection. He became confrontational, causing a disruption,” Captain Ranti continued.

“To manage the situation and prevent further delay, I exited the cockpit and approached Mr. Ayinde to engage him amicably. Without warning, he opened the flask and poured its contents on me, the security personnel, and some nearby passengers.

“Following this assault, airport security intervened, and other passengers were allowed to continue boarding. The Head of Security advised that Mr. Ayinde should not be permitted to travel on the flight due to his behaviour. I agreed, prioritising the safety of my passengers and crew.

“After shutting the aircraft doors, I observed that Mr Ayinde was still near the aircraft, obstructing movement. I made a Public Announcement to inform passengers of the delay while security personnel worked to remove him from the area. Once he was moved out of sight, I commenced taxiing and departed for Lagos at approximately 08:50.

“This incident caused significant delay, disruption, and posed safety risks to passengers, crew, and the operation of the flight.”

It was KWAM1’s disorderly conduct which hindered ValuJet’s flight operations as well as a serious breach of aviation safety protocols, that forced the NCAA to suspend two of the airline’s pilots.

Apart from the suspension of the pilots, the aviation authority is considering punitive measures for Kwam 1, such as being put on a ‘no-fly list’, over his unruly conduct.

A ‘no-fly list’ is a database of individuals prohibited from boarding commercial flights due to suspected links to terrorism or other security threats.

The airline is also considering suing the musician for his unruly behaviour which nearly jeopardised its flight operations.

Calls to KWAM1 went unanswered while attempts to get a reaction from him through one of his aides was ignored up until the time of this report.

They said they won't fly Airpeace again.
Now they have taken their usual behavior to Valuejet

If it was Airpeace they would blamed the airline.

kedeojo:
you are too tribalistic.what Air peace was accused of is very true about them and there were fact from even some igbos too. Was the pilots not suspended now but he too need to be ban for atleast sometimes from flying but since it is Nigeria, big men always have their way. The airline is right to sue him. Air peace you are defending is owned by the Jonathan's but using Onyema thier boy as front. Kingsley kuku is the link man and Onyema worked with him during Jonathan presidency.
Who be this one?

Kwam 1 should be made an example that Nigeria is not a banana Republic.

Put him on no fly list for 5 years, other Agbero in his shoes would learn to comport themselves like they do in US, UK and other developed countries.

If this Were Wasiu try this rubbish in China he will be inside one big iron cage by now, eat watering beans for months.

Typical of Nigerians, thinking because of the political connection, they're above the law.

I keep saying it, one major problem Nigeria has is law enforcement. You'll discover there all laws when it's a poor, helpless or hapless citizen.

This is a good development as it will teach the arrogant musician that he is not above the law.
Wasiu Ayinde Marshal is already used to fighting in molues in Lagos and he thinks he can bring such local attitude to airlines.

Aviation laws are not to be toyed with and no one is above the law. Even President Tinubu cannot change those laws. These laws were written and enforced both locally and internationally for the safety of everyone from passengers to workers in the airport.

Wasiu Ayinde Marshal that can not even speak English yet is said to be arrogant just because Tinubu have him a call when his mother died. Wasiu Ayinde Marshal is not even knows in any important circles outside his local Yoruba music he sings in the south west yet thinks he is above the law.

This is not a value-jet issue only, this is a federal investigation. Crimes committed within the airport is under federal jurisdiction. Minister of Justice can correct me if i am wrong
The airport is under federal authority. The airlines operate with the assurance that the federal government provides adequate security for them to conduct their business.

1. Civil Aviation Act 2022 (Part X, Section 69)

• Implication: Obstructing or attempting to interfere with the movement of an aircraft is a serious federal offense.
• Penalty: Up to 2 years imprisonment or ₦500,000 fine or both.

2. NCAA Regulations – Part 17 (Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority)
• Disorderly conduct, refusal to comply with aviation security protocols, and failure to obey lawful instructions from airport officials.
• Classified as Unruly Passenger Behavior.

3. Criminal Code Act (Cap C38, LFN 2004)

• Section 98B: Abuse of office or status to gain undue privilege.

4. Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Act
• FAAN has authority to bar or blacklist anyone whose behavior jeopardizes airport safety.
• KWAM1’s status does not exempt him from aviation rules.

5. Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 (Amended 2013)

• Attempting to obstruct a plane may technically trigger an aviation security review under terrorism-related guidelines, particularly if interpreted as interfering with aircraft navigation.
