I am a proud alumnus of NOUN's Public Health Master's program, a member of the first cohorts of the course. My masters degree was accepted for my upcoming doctorate in the UK. It was a worthwhile investment, despite initial reservations.
is your phd on scholarship?

How much for their school fees sef?
Am just curious.
Thank you.
Amudeneogu:
All the courses provided by the national Open university of Nigeria are accredited by the NUC therefore it is recognised globally, the institution is an ODL ( open and distance learning) institution that means you can study anywhere and anytime provided you have your personal computer at the end of every semester you will go to your study centre and take your exam there. In noun, there some big men and women students, their school fees are affordable.

Transcript is an official document that shows your grades and GPA. So schools use it to check the courses the student offered and how he fared in them.

No they don't. That's the reason why you have many foreign students. The program is sponsored by the world bank.
wow...that sounds cool...do you by any chance know if the PGDE program is 100% online including the exams? I couldn't find this particular info on their website

Yes, it's 100%.....from PGD to PhD.
During exams, it is allowed for those who wish to go to the school to physically sit for the exams, but online still.

NOUN is nationally and internationally recognized. Foreign universities and institutions seem to recognize NOUN more than most Nigerian traditional universities due to NOUN's high operation standard that reduces exam malpractice and student sorting after exams. They also employ more computerized system than most traditional universities in Nigeria.

It is the same with your traditional universities.

NOUN seems to maintain higher educational standard than most Nigerian universities.

The fact that you don't know who sets and mark your exam makes cheating and sorting almost impossible.

It's a great school.

Many Nigerians that graduated from there used it to gain admission at reputable universities abroad and even in Nigeria.

So go ahead
Pls, what do you know about miva open university and their result evaluation with WES? I am thinking of pursuing my MPH degree with them and they said exams are written online at home. I asked because they just offered me admission in Environmental Health

But he can't do PHD with ABU masters degree
ABU Distance Learning only offers Professional Masters (e.g MBA, MPH, MPA etc) as against research-based Masters. For MSc (Research-based), you attend class traditionally and proceed with your PhD with that.

No serious university will accept Bsc in industry chemistry for Masters in Public Health.

Why not use it and do a direct entry to study nursing instead?

No, they didn't want to accept but they got letter from 2 foreign pharmaceutical companies I work for for many years so they decided to give me environmental health.

I checked WES now but Miva is not listed and they asked me to enter manually

Hello Sir/Madam, Based on the information provided, there’s no apparent reason you wouldn’t be admitted. Unless the admission criteria have become stricter, you should be eligible for a place. I recommend contacting the department for confirmation. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you may also inquire about the specific requirements for direct entry into a master’s program. I am of the opinion that your nursing background is sufficient

Yes

if you are in doubt go to any department in UNILAG with your Noun B.SC certificate to find out
You lied! I have so many who after their B.Sc in NOUN proceeded for their M.Sc in other conventional universities including UNILAG and UNICAL. Don’t say what you don’t know. My course mate finished her M.Sc in UNILAG two years ago too.

NOUN BSc, MSc and PhD are all well recognized nationally and internationally. Many people I know have used their bachelors degree to get admission into masters in other schools, same with their masters to do doctorate in other schools too. Anyone who doesn't know a thing about something should first find out before speaking naively in public places.

Lol....MIVA is way better. In terms of organisation, quality of staff, support for students etc. Just ask anyone in this uni. Remember the first set of graduates from this Uni will be having their convocation in a few weeks and will be the first to be issued degrees from this uni. Before you can complete a WES evaluation, this degree needs to be awarded and a paper document to accompany it. As long as the uni is accredited by the Federal regulatory body in home country which is NUC in the case of Nigeria, it will appear on the websites of evaluation bodies and accepted in foreign countries at some point. If you know the calibre of persons handling Miva you'll understand they do not settle for less in terms of reputation and recognition. The school is superb!
