You are probably not a parent. I have to keep it at this because I will be considered judgmental. Anyway, pay attention to the impact of vices on the majority if you are immune. The impacts of shows like BBN is massively negative.

BlackViper:
I'm usually not a fan of “moral” crusades and other manifestations of moral posturing by hypocritical, “Holier than thou” Nigerians because I feel that there are far greater types of immorality confronting this country than whether or not the hemline of a young lady's skirt crosses her knees, or whether that dress she's wearing accentuates her curves or whether a young man has dreadlocks and is wearing ripped jeans.

I always find it amusing when religious leaders denounce "immoral dressing", then invite politicians to the pulpit to address congregations. These religious leaders act as if corruption, embezzlement and nepotism are not acts of gross immorality and politicians have not been the actual heavyweight champions of immorality in Nigeria right from the beginning. Think about it. Have we not been having greedy, incompetent politcal buffoons in Nigeria since 1960, long before anyone even knew what a mini skirt was?

But all the same, I still have an axe to grind with BBN simply because I believe the monetary reward system attached to it is obscenely inflated relative to what it projects. Imagine giving 150 million naira as a reward to someone for simply idling around, gossiping, eating, drinking, fornicating etc for 90 days.

Meanwhile a 1st class graduate will be lucky to get N100,000 during his graduation ceremony and many of them don't even get that much.

Make them ban am that show is very useless

Since Tinubu can’t boast of any achievements if he bans BBN I’ll rate him 1/100

Country dey burn mumu people dey do BBN
If they ban BBNJ mention one thing it'll stop politicians from doing ?

was president, governors, senators selected by BBN?

Is the road to your state damaged because of BBN?

Is insecurity in Nigeria caused by BBN?

High cost of living is it as a result of BBN ?

A 3 month on television each year isn't reason why this country is in a mess . This is a misplaced priority

The useless lawyer can focus on those that handles the affairs of the country because the future of your children has nothing with BBN.

So stop this meaningless fight because with or without BBN you'll still suffer .

Quite ironic that a "human rights" lawyer is pursuing legal actions to curtail freedom of expression. The producers have the right to create and broadcast content. The viewers have the right to access and consume entertainment of their choice.

Of course, the public morality argument will always come into play. But morality is not uniform, and in a pluralistic society, the law should not be used to enforce subjective moral standards on everyone.

Section 45 of the Constitution permits limitations on rights for public morality, but such restrictions must be reasonable.
Instead of seeking to silence what they dislike, critics should exercise their own freedom by simply not watching. That’s how rights work

I agree with everything you said up there except for the money part. The organiser is into multibillion naira business and that is why they are able to afford the payment. They make 20 times more for organising the show! The 100K giving to first class is free donation. That's the difference.

I can’t support the loss of moral values in our society and communities.
But this particular program is not compulsory for the viewers and entire populace.
Let’s assume it’s showing on NTA broadcast nationwide it could cause for public concern. Mr. Lawyer should use his energy for another productive project.
Thanks.

I'm one of those that have an indifferent opinion about this matter...

Basically I don't know how the law applies on the issue.

But emotions should be separated from illegality.

If multi choice is doing anything wrong or illegal I don't know how the law applies in the matter.

I can argue both ways. Because the show also has a parental feature and age graded!

They have started again!
They do this every season for a show that lasts less than 4 months!
Just to make this point known that there is no porn in BBN unlike what is obtainable in SA where HMs are shown bathing!
Secondly,BBN is not a free to air as erroneously posited by the lawyer as the channel is under the control of multichoice & subscribers are the ones who can watch!
Interestingly, the company had witnessed a sharp decline in patronage die to high subscription tariffs months before the BBN show even started....so I'm even wondering how many people still watch Dstv!
Thirdly, there are many channels on dstv that show porn and same sex affair!
Why haven't these channels been banned or regulated?
What about Netflix subscription that cannot do a film or series show without inserting homosexual scenes?

Oga lawyer rest!

I am totally in support of this...

This so called program... streaming immorality into living rooms of many... thereby causing the surge in behavioral corruption in Nigeria... should not only be banned... also the promoters of these programs must be put in prison... to serve as punishment for the years of sowing seeds of moral decadence into the society...

For those who don't like BBN show which only airs in less than 4 months, you have the option of blocking the channel and it's not like 198 is the only channel on dstv!
There are variety of channels to watch on dstv!
So dead this narrative!

Multichoice has totally lost it. It seems they think they are operating in a society without values. Imagine a guy sucking a girl's boobs on national team. If I were president, I would've banned that show long ago.
because that is the only job you can do. Nigerians and misplaced priorities, you didn't see Boko Haram to ban you want to flex your GCFR on an ordinary TV show. Nigerians really need to have their head checked.

Who told you they do idling, gossiping, eating and fornicating to win the show-prize!

Its clear you dont watch the show.

Those housemates in the big-brother's house do many educational task programs, schedule for dem from day-to-day.
Innovative, critically thinking and mastering wide knowledges are being inputed inside these tasks.

Infact 90percent voting and deciding the winner usually comes from housemates readiness and abilities in carrying out these tasks well.

Not entirely a bad Tv-show.

If the 15-16yr olds access it through their phones, no big deal. Let dem be expose to it but monitor and caution their morality everyday... this will remind dem of the negatives if dem indulge in it practically.

The mistake most parents make mostly at home is hiding stuffs from their wards because the parents feel if its expose to the children, it will be harmful. That is a wrong motive.
If you don't expose it to dem so they can know the disadvantages about it, when the children go outside, they will be blindly directed to it by friends without any control and without knowing the consequences.

This is also part of sex education that we shy away from.

All those una outdated and archaic style of raising children is what spoiled and deteriorated many baby-boomers and generation x.

Tell me why Michael Jackson as an adult will be having affairs with little children!
Because he was not exposed to kids-play as a child.

You can carry your 1970s way of training a child. I don leave una!
