I had a teaching job before married but I had to relocate. Guess what. That life ended. I had some savings but it didn't last long.

The point is that a woman's life is on transit, having many stops and turns. If a woman is lucky to establish herself before and during marriage, in spite of pregnancy and childbirth and whatever else might accompany it, then she's truly lucky.

I appreciate your response ma'am. I believe your husband respects you because he knows you made an actual sacrifice of leaving your job just to get married to him and relocate. I was especially talking about women who have no career, no business or known source of income before marriage. The man literally met you as a nobody and it continued to be so. He will rarely place any value on you.

Only emotionally intelligent and wise men will look beyond this. A lot of men like to look down on women they feel bring no value to the table aside childbirth.

But your points are also valid. At the end, the person we choose to spend the rest of our lives with matters a lot. While financial stability is important, maturity and emotional intelligence, empathy and kindness are also key.

I believe it is the other way around in this case. That you consider this a petty joke from your father to your mother means you were not given proper training by your mother about how not to disrespect her and other women.
