The Official Secrets Act of Nigeria, enacted in 1962, which restricts the unauthorized release of classified government information deemed prejudicial to national security. It serves as a safeguard for confidential information and government integrity, potentially limiting the public's access to certain information

The Nigerian official secrets act 1962 and the US Espionage Act of 1917, the latter which is use by the US government to persecute the likes of Edwin Snowden and Assange, both laws are homogeneous in nature in terms of it scope and interpretation

Mr dvkot sir, if a current member of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), The agency responsible for foreign intelligence in Nigeria should leaked classified materials damaging to the Nigerian government to the press should the Nigeria government under the official secrets act go after the individual??
The Russian equivalent of the Nigerian and US law is the "Law of the Russian Federation NO. 5485-1".

Using your logic, if a Russian government official leaks documents that expose horrific war crimes committed by Russian soldiers in a war, does Russia have the right to go after the person?

You should answer yourself instead of seeking dishonest excuses to justify war crimes committed by the US.

If a Russian did what the US did, we would have been hearing noises of war crimes, freedom of the press, and talks of Russia going after dissidents.

But since it's the US, you're trying to justify their war crimes by quoting laws.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/27/world/middleeast/china-iran-deal.html

For me starvation and genocide is a world problem, doesn’t matter if it’s Africa or Middle East. Russia, china and others have repeatedly condemned Israel’s actions but can’t go to far with military intervention or sanctions. This is where Arabs come in, this is their fight. Iran, Yemen and Lebanon have all taken one for the team, others should step up. As for the 12D war, it’s indirectly a war against BRICS so it concerns Russia and china. Especially china because china has invested billions in Iran oil production.
Oil facilities in Iran weren't hit, so Chinese investments are secure. The Israelis aren't stupid. They know where to strike.
As for BRICS, no one in her right senses would send her fighting men to die on behalf of Iran against the Jews when oil production in the Middle East wasn't affected. You think Brazil or India or China would send their military in defense of Iran? You think South Africa would? Not even Russia who's busy would.
Iran needs to take care of itself or else the Israeli will come back again, this time for Kamenei ''s head...

Justify what?? go and read your history mate, both the Russians and the US have arrested and persecuted individuals based on each other Espionage laws

It didn't start with Edwin Snowden, the US have jailed many individuals after the Edwin Snowden debacle, same with Russia

We are not discussing morality here dude, this is not a religious setting, the moment any individual releases documents or information that is classified, not meant for public consumption, which has damaging potentials to the state, he becomes liable to the law, especially for individuals who are working in the intelligence community, as in the case of Edwin Snowden

Do you know how many lives he put in harms way when those details came on air, he crippled the entire US intelligence network in Europe, even exposing the US culpability in spying on allies

During the cold war, such acts is liable to d...

P.s Going after people who released sensitive information is now war crimes😂😂😂😂😂

People who don't know that even in the best democratic state, there is a limit to individual rights. Once they hear of democracy, they always think it is a kind of unruly world where one should be able to do whatever they want, irrespective of the consequences.
Now add FOI act, ahhhhhhh, they believe they now have a legal basis to override restricted access to official secrets that can threaten the unity or existence of the state.
Every slow individuals, they don't know that they are rules one must obey, I saw them rejoicing after a man was arrested for heckling at the European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, just because you have freedom of speech, doesn't give you the liberty to constitute fracas in the public domain, there is something called "Public disturbances" and depending on the scope and severity, public disturbances can lead to legal penalties, ranging from fines to even imprisonment

Because you enjoy freedom of speech, would you go and interrupt a speech by POTUS? You will be arrested for sure.

Because there is freedom of movement, does that give you the right to walk into restricted areas??

If any elected leader is making a speech and his heckled by any individual, he will be arrested. The only difference is the punishment that comes. Imagine interrupting or heckling Putin, XI or Kim,
I don't want to imagine the what will happen to such individual

The USA and Israel did a decapitation strike. The end goal was to have a pro western government, with a pro west government Chinese investment contracts will be cancelled or renegotiated. Israel didn’t strike oil infrastructure because Iran said they’ll retaliate on gulf states infrastructure which will send oil prices up. I didn’t say BRICS will send fighting men BRICS is not NATO. I said it concerns them so they should give military aid like air defence, ISR and others.

The same Gonzalo Lira that attempted to violate his bail conditions after he was granted bail several times for publishing materials that justified Russia's invasion of Ukraine during a time of war oooo. What else should be done other than keep him in prison ooo.

And he died of Pneumonia while in Prison, he wasn't poisoned by Novichok. Still wonder why you have been evading this part ever since I mentioned it.

It's a big fat delusion for anyone to claim there's freedom of speech in any country.

What is freedom of speech when the government censors what type of information you listen to?
What's the freedom of speech if you arrest people that don't agree with your opinion.

Every country has a political interest and that interest is influenced by it foreign policy, There's no good and there's no bad, Just political interest and foreign policy.
The leaders of other countries will now be the ones to make sure they are not being used as pawn to serve the political interests of another country.

First of all, don't twist my words. At no point did I ever claim going after people who reveal "sensitive" information is a war crime.

2. I am not discussing morality. It is you and your ilk who have always tried taking a moral high ground on issues.

3. I only exposed your hypocrisy. If Russia arrests people like Snowden and Assange, you all will start screaming about freedom of the press. But now that the US arrested them, you are trying to justify it by claiming they broke a law.

Consistency isn't really a thing for you folks.

The above where your words, you were the one who insisted that I am trying to manipulate laws to justify war crimes, you are the one who brought war crimes into a discuss about the legality of going after individuals who are guilty of breaching espionage laws.... I sincerely hope you are feeling well mate!!.

What hypocrisy mate?? Both nations like I pointed out before have persecuted and imprisoned individuals guilty of such acts, that is common knowledge, right from the hay days of the cold war to today, the US and the Soviet Union now mainly Russia have targeted and persecuted individuals guilty of espionage

There's noting to justify here, it is a law, do I have to defind what a Law is to you now!! if you break the law you will be arrested and persecuted period.

Someone made mention of the US going after Edward Snowden and co, all I and the "pleader" seek to address is to let the fellow know that the US government is within her legal rights to go after such individuals who made such materials public, and US haven't done anything illegal and she is within the scope of her powers.

Take a nap, you clearly need some bedtime
