At today's exchange rate of 1,500 naira to the US dollar, 45 million naira is just $27K USD, which is only enough to rent an apartment for less than a year, leaving the costs of food, transport, electricity, gas and water unpaid.
..

Canada is filled with Indians, they have taken all the job spots, go to any supermarket you will see them there, as an african you have very slim chance of getting a job.
The Indians has taken all the jobs all over the world. African people has little chance. They are all over the world.

Bros, you didn't make a mistake in anyway. You can make the N45M within few weeks when things stablize for you. This is just a phase and it will eventually pass away.
I was there 3 years ago and today, I am happy that I made the tough decision of leaving my multinational job to abroad.
Today, I am gainfully employed by a bigger multinational company with a perk benefit of a 2025 brand new official car.

Your story will soon change.
Ok, N45m is 40K CAD. Average monthly salary in Canada is 5K CAD.
Sooo, how do you make 40K CAD "within a few weeks when things stabilize"??
Then "2025 brand new official car",
My insight: my friend you are in Nigeria, NOT in Canada!

Even with his unemployment status in Canada, I will still advise him never to relocate back to Nigeria. Hence, we'll hear he has committed suicide. Canada is still far more better than Nigeria current situation. With time he will be employed.
Thing is, someone actually in Canada will NEVER write this!

Na wa. Those are the worst people to work for. I wish him the best but returning to Nigeria is not an option, not with the sacrifices made.

that's a sure travel agent. You are on point here. Even the #45m he used to process the visa is very much. I'm hopeful the stranded brother will get a tangible job.
I don't think that guy is serious to succeed when he is blaming everything but himself.he blamed the Nigerian government that caused him to japa.now he is blaming Canada for not giving him a job.a man that cannot succeed in Canada is born to be a failure

Bros. I am in Australia 🇦🇺.

I didn't mentioned that I am in Canada.

If you need proves, politely ask and I will happily provide them.

By the way, there are people that earn more than double of what you mentioned in Canada.

😆😆😆😆

Jonah! You will learn the hard way! Canada is casted!

Just make sure you come back to this forum and share the blunt truth about current state of Canada

Don’t join the bandwagon of people who lie to those back home.

If the almighty Indians can start fleeing, know that it’s over!
Don't mind them, I'm in Canada and when i go to the Canada relocation thread on nairaland to give them the current situation of things in the country all the agents ganged up against me and called me different kind of names.
Canada is casted, Indians too over the country..I doubt Canada can recover anytime soon, it's going to take 10 years or more to fix the problems Trudeau cost this country.
Anyone thinking of relocating shouldn't even consider this overrated shithole currently.
Make i just finish my school, thank God i no sell any of my landed properties except my household items, appliances and my car.

Before i don't understand the struggle until i traveled.

I have maximum respect to all Nigerians out there in English and non English countries doing legit hustle. Someon went without knowing anyone and the host country don't even understand English.. But they struggled and learnt the language.. How they paid rent etc was another story.

Respect to all legit hustlers everywhere in the world

Uh, it depends on where you are.

If you're in Philadelphia or Chicago, that would pay rent on a good apartment in a central area for at least two years with about 10k USD leftover. If you actually sign a 2-year lease, you can get a lower rent. If you're willing to live in a smaller and less desirable place, you can pay significantly less than that. If you're willing to have a roommate or rent a room, you can also pay a lot less.

Transportation wouldn't be expensive because a bus or train pass would get you everywhere you need to go. Heat, hot water, and gas is included in rent, and many buildings will flat rate your electricity (at a low price) or even bundle it into rent.

Food, even healthy stuff, isn't expensive. All you need is a sack of rice, cheap veggies, and cheap protein. For breakfast and lunch, cheap bread, protein, cold cuts, and a pack of eggs has you covered. A sack of rice lasts one person a long time. You can get a bunch of chicken and pork cheap. Beans are cheap and healthy. Cabbage is cheap. Frozen vegetables are cheap. And there's lots of grocery stores focused on delivering food at the lowest price.

Doing Uber/Lyft/Taskrabbit is a solid option. It's not glamorous, but it can put decent money in your pocket. CNA work is easy to get. Again, not glamorous, but it can pay bills, especially if you do travel work or take long-term work with a rich or upper middle class family. There are other jobs that are less desirable, but pay decent and are easy to get. Usually they require only a few months of training, or companies will accept people without training. 3rd shift jobs are another option because most people's bodies cannot handle those hours. But those jobs are good because you may barely be working. And you can study while you work. If your English is good and you have a degree, you should also be able to land a remote/WFH job doing customer service. It won't pay a lot, but it's WFH. These jobs are just random options, I'm not saying you should do it long-term.

muhammaduyusufu:
If that's the case, Nigerians based in Canada would have bought all the lands and businesses in Nigeria.

One thing about abroad is that the system is designed in a way that as you are making the money, the system is taking it back from you. If you are able to save $200 every month after taxes, expenses and bills, you will thank God.

Using Toronto as example. If you make minimum wage of $2800 per month, your rent alone is average $2,200 for one bedroom.
You will still pay phone bill ($90), electricity bill ($100), water bill ($80), heating bill ($100), insurance for car ($150), food ($250) e.t.c

How much do you think will remain?
Most of them don't know this, they think once they land in Canada they will start plucking money from trees grin
