Just decided to share this here since someone asked me for it. If you don't have your TIN, you're going to need it for Upwork, and also if you're opening a PayPal account.

So here goes:

PROCESS FOR GETTING YOUR TAX IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (TIN)

1. Go to this website to search for your tin

https://tin.jtb.gov.ng/TinIndividualRequestExternal

2. Use your BVN to search for your TIN number

Now as an employee (or former) you most likely already have a TIN

so all you need is the number

And if you don’t, you click on "next" to fill the form

With your details

3. After you complete it, a mail will be sent to you (use a correct email)

You get a Request ID

This process can take from 2 to 15 hours

This isn't an answer. You can't be open to anything cos that's not how upwork works. You'd have to pick a niche, then optimize your profile using that particular niche. This makes you qualify for jobs within that niche.

So pick something, any skill. Could be witting, editing, life coach...anything. Then you build your profile in line with that skill.

You can try virtual assistant. Add HubSpot and Google Workspace to your title so that prospective client would know that you're tech savvy.

Try something like this Administrative Assistant | Google Workspace, HubSpot & Excel Specialist

You're putting excel because most virtual/administrative roles comes with lots and lots of data entry. So you'd have to know your way around Excel in order to perform efficiently.

The good thing about Upwork is that they (Upwork) give new freelancers visibility for a period of time, regardless of whether their profile is perfect or not. This is why you can search for freelancers on a niche and you'd be shocked to see freelancers with zero earnings on the first page. It's the way up work's algorithm is configured.

Some new freelancers land their first job within days because of this boost (I'm one of them).

What you do with that visibility matters cos if you let it waste, it's your loss.

For your profile, I'll recommend chat chatgtp or Co pilot (I use the paid version cos it comes with the MS 365 package)

Copy your profile link and paste it there then give it a prompt to optimize it so that clients can reach out to you.

Once your profile has been fully optimized, use the same AI to write proposals since you're new, your proposal would have an auto boost. If your proposal is convincing enough, you might just be given the job.

Your profile is already good, it's just that the niche you serve is saturated, I do mostly Enterprise platforms and core programming so I avoid some webdev like html,css gigs, if you were tied to a platform like WordPress or something using those same webdev skills, you'd thrive plus Upwork is not the same as before too.

You've made over 3k, have a 100% job success score and have completed 14 jobs, yet you don't have a badge. That's because your profile isn't 100% complete. And if you don't have a badge it would be difficult for clients to locate you cos they use filters to search for freelancers based on their badges.

From your earnings and the number of jobs you've completed, you should be on top rated. So I'll advise you to go back to your profile complete it let it show 100%, I think upwork would give you about 60 free connects or thereabout along with the Top rated badge.

As for your title and overview it's OK. Just that I'll suggest you create a specialized profile. I'm viewing your profile from my phone so I don't know if you already have a specialized profile or not.

But incase you don't have...Upwork allows 2 specialized profiles which when you add it to this one it would be 3. That way you can easily pop out during searches, and would have more invites even if you don't have connects.
