You can't float prices in any commercial sector of Nigeria, it will only lead to continuous rip-off by unscrupulous vendors

Just check out the forex market, creeping inflation is now a permanent part of our everyday life in this countrythe price of retail goods especially imported ones goes up every other time the thieves restock, it never goes down even when dollar price falls

“The worst illiterate is the political illiterate, he doesn’t hear, doesn’t speak, nor participates in the political events.

He doesn’t know the cost of life, the price of the bean, of the fish, of the flour, of the rent, of the shoes and of the medicine, all depends on political decisions. The political illiterate is so stupid that he is proud and swells his chest saying that he hates politics.

The slowpoke doesn’t know that, from his political ignorance is born the prostitute, the abandoned child, and the worst thieves of all, the bad politician, corrupted and flunky of the national and multinational companies.”

Is that what happened in the telecom sector when it was deregulated by the Obasanjo/Atiku administration over two decades ago?

APC progreThief socialists have destroyed everything that PDP deregulation and privatisation capitalists handed over to them in 2015!!!

thisweekng:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

Thought some folks on this forum were clamouring for a price war. I did warn about unintended consequences in a market at its infancy, that is a contest without the ropes of a boxing ring, pugilists without gloves and a sport with neither referee, federation or even a belt to contend for.....if you understand.

There will be blood on the floor as they say and whoever is left standing, I repeat again, will enslave everyone else.

In these uncivilized parts some assume free market means free range, free for all, but on reality it means freedom.
Like the ways of PO, critique with no solutions proffered

You clearly don't understand what full deregulation means

PDP never floated telecom prices, the providers were obligated to seek NCC approval before any tariff increment

We know what they are doing, moving pump price up and down as they like. They are only testing the waters. Watch as the price will dastically reduce as election approaches so that people will be cajoled to vote in an insensitive government once again. Don't fall into that bait!

Is this how Glo crashed prices when it entered the market?

What NCC provisions are you referring to in the Act establishing it, which was passed by your own senator and representative?

Is there a similar mechanism in capitalistic developed economies?
Re: NNPCL Increases Fuel Price For The Second Time In 4 Days by igatit: 3:55am On Aug 09, 2025
When it comes to increasing the price of fuel, it happens very fast and they will back it up with a lot of selfish reasons.

But to reduce the price omo, the gebrish and thousands of stiff reasons they will give, and also blackmail the citizens to bare the pains now and gain tomorrow will be so loud.

They will reduce 1 naira once in 6months and make it sound big on all media. But when it comes to increment, they can increase the price so many times in a week.

You see eh. Nigeria is so divided along ethnic and religious lines that some citizens think what's happening is correct. Despite the hash conditions and backward impacts the negative policies by these thieves in govt are putting out, some individuals are still singing their praise.

Nothing will change if we don't speak out. Nothing will happen if we don't raise to the occasion. Power is not given, it is taken. Nigerian youths need to wake up. They will continue to insult our collective sensibility knowing that we won't react.

It's so bad the gullible ones will always front their defense.

He can't say the reason, he says.

Then what's the use of speaking at all?

There's nothing reasonable to pin the increase on.

Werey dem that can increase pump price because Israel and Iran dey exchange blows? I'm not surprised.

Has anyone observed that they no longer give reasons for the increment in price? Let's be wise, lot of things are going on underneath...

I bought fuel at MRS for 865 yesterday night...idimu area of lagos. The NNPC station close by was selling fuel at 895.

Maybe they had not effected the price change at the time.

MRS take their supplies from Dangote refinery. The rate at which the NNPCL is failing Nigerians, I am very sure that this economy is in shambles.

APC should be busy apologizing to Nigerians, but in their mind Peter Obi is responsible for the dysfunction of the Nigerian State.

I thought propaganda reduces fuel prices. At least the APC people will buy fuel for less.
The APC and their rudderless propagandists have destroyed this country.

The worst part of the national collapse is when their religious arm tactically confuse their followers. Nigeria will survive this phase
