The pilot also needs to be suspended a minimum of 2 yrs.
There's no justification (except the world is ending or actual security threat) that will make you move plane with people around you.

The fact that he apologized to Valueajet in his stament shows he's acknowledging his fault as the provocateur. I believe the civil aviation authority should consider that and lessen the pilot's punishment too.

Since we all know they would lift k1's travel ban, then tbey should consider lifting the pilot's too.

Because of sentiments, a case has now been made for a pilot that has no business being in the skies anytime soon, and the threshold for what's considered minimum level of fvckup in what's normally a tightly regulated profession has been lowered.

While I am not justifying the pilot's actions (only if it is intentional)...

Over here and I imagine it may be applicable in Canada as well, if a pedestrian runs across a high speeding highway, the pedestrian is considered suicidal. If the pedestrian suffers an accident and the driver reports without leaving the scene of the accident, there is no case against the driver. If anything, the driver can sue the pedestrian if the crossing results in an accident.

Standing on an active runway with the purpose of obstructing or any other purpose can be considered suicidal or an intentional act of terror. There is no way a pilot commences taxiing or any type of movement without clearance from Ground Control, take off and landing without Air Traffic Control (ATC).

Except it can be established after investigation and review of communications that the pilot did not receive approval to start taxing, then the airline or pilot can even sue K1 if they want to escalate this issue.

Who knew? The pilot? Or the ground that may have issued the clearance to commence taxiing?

Like I said, except it is established after investigation that she did not get approval from Grounds to commence taxing, or willfully ignored denials, then, they have no case against her, irrespective who is around the plane.

We are extremely careless in Nigeria, otherwise, there is no reason people should surround an Airplane that is fully boarded and powered on. Nigeria is a summary of 1000 ways to die!

Last year, Asiwaju’s entourage after bidding him bye, remained dangerously close to a departing aircraft that was taking off and I raised it here. I can bet you, the regulations against it are there but nobody follows it until incidents like these happen.

Pilots sit in the cockpit and because of the elevation of the pit, they are unable to see their entire surrounding. Once a plane has another life inside the plane, the pilot cannot leave the plane, until it is fully deboarded. It is the reason why after you land, pilots remain inside the pit until plane is empty.

Pilots don’t come down after boarding to check whether people dey surrounding then go back into the pit to commence taxiing or take off. Airplanes don’t have side mirrors, the exact reason pilots rely on approvals from Ground Control and ATC (Towers) before they move the plane, even if it is to taxi it.

If she received approvals from Ground Controllers, then there is no case, irrespective of who is around the plane. They should take the case up with Grounds and review protocols.

3 month suspension and enrolment in anger management courses and retraining should be okay for the pilot.

Maiyegun needs ego management courses more than anything but the same 3 months suspension from flying, anger management and educational courses, and a hefty fine (in millions) should be enough.

They are both first time offenders (probably) and it is a simple case of ego jam anger.

I have never seen such level of unprofessionalism from a pilot before or even aware such level of unprofessionalism exists. It took K1 to process such hence his reflex action of dodging at the last minute.
