Both the US and Russia are not signatories to the convention and does not recognise ICJ jurisdiction

Putin needs it more.

He is war weary and needs a way out of it. The war affects the whole world, including his country. Prices of grains are out of the roof and ambitions are not achieved. With hundreds of thousands of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers lost, he must take the olive branch extended by Trump and sort put an end to his arrogance.

Again Zelensky on the other hand must take advantage of the meeting between Trump and Putin. That opens the door for peace. Hopefully an agreement is reached where the three leaders can meet soon.

In this regard, Trump is doing well.

Russia have launched new ships and submarines this year alone than the US have in 6 years.

Russia's debt reduced from $400 billion in 2022 to $280 billion today.

The US debt in 2022 was about $30 trillion. Today it is 37 trillion.

Oga, both Russia and Ukraine felt/are feeling the heat of the war.

Putin agreeing to meet Trump for a meeting, means that Putin also, early wants peace. If not, Putin won't agree to meet Trump, knowing fully well that Trump sides Ukraine in the war.

Also, Putin would state out the conditions that must be met before he ceases fire on the war, through the media, instead of agreeing to meet Trump for a meeting.

Accepting to honour the meeting, simply means that he(Putin) also wants peace.
