Are you okay at all? Is governemt not a continuum? Is what the current government doing not going to affect the next government and generations? If your fore fathers did what the Dangotes and Dantatas were doing, will you be at your current state? If we had built our own Dubai Mall and Metro instead of saving the money, will we not be making our billions of dollars from it annually today? Would any government deceive you today about wanting to build road?
It was an honest debate and discussion about government and their deceit but you decided to add family. If I decided to answer you according to your folly people would say I’m too harsh. Can’t you people just talk without going personally especially with someone you don’t know anything about? Is that too hard for your brain to comprehend ?

People must understand that the statistics being probably right doesn't mean we're worse off today.

How much was your salary in 2006?
What was your house rent in 2006?
How much was transportation cost in 2006?
What was the price of fuel in 2006?
What was the cost of bread in 2006?
What was the rate of Dollar to Naira in 2006?

Compare with EVERYTHING else and you'll realize it's more or less the same today.

The people you should be blaming are your PAST leaders who had no courage to remove subsidy and float the Naira since 1960, not president Tinubu.

What president Tinubu has done is to be able to put a stop to such wide economic swing in the future.

With what president Tinubu has done, the Nigerian economy will be more stable and even predictable going forward. You're not going to see such wide economic swing again in the future in Nigeria. President Tinubu has once and for all put an end to it.

How much was your earning in 2006? Compare and contrast.

I don't support this government though, but you can only shout inflation if your earnings remain constant between these periods or if the national minimum wage remains constant between 2006 and 2025 or if the money in circulation remains the same.
My brother this party called APC have drastically reduced the quality and standard of life of Nigerians

I don’t understand what you guys meant by this statement “ There's inflation all over the world and the world can not be stagnant”. In a sane country when the prices of goods rise, the government will adjust the minimum wage to be able to accommodate the inflation or provide subsidies in the essential commodities like food and health. Pls tell me one thing that Nigerians enjoy as a citizen of this country under Tinubu government, just one thing.
Very good.

FYI, minimum wage in 2006 was 3,000 but today it is 70,000. As for subsidies, the government has, before now, heavily subsidized petrol but got tired when it was abused by the so called elite, who imported fuel, got the subsidy differentials from the government and still moved the fuel to other African countries for sale at exorbitant rates, thereby, shortchanging the masses and creating undue fuel scarcity and making the people to suffer for something that had already been subsidized by the government.

Why do you think the other countries like Benin Republic and Cameroon do not pay subsidy?

In exchange, Tinubu came, removed the subsidy and channeled the excess into massive infrastructural development. We have not witnessed massive infrastructural development like this in decades.... and his government is just two years old.

He empowered your state governors by multiplying their monthly allocation for the benefit of their states and people but you people would not even look in that direction. It is Tinubu. He also triggered grassroots development by pushing for Local Government Autonomy and their allocations paid directly to their LG accounts but you people will still not hold your local government chairmen accountable.

Yet, you guys would keep claiming that you've never seen anything Tinubu government has done.

In 2006 , a bottle of Stat was N60.
Today it's N1,200 pump price.
100 bottle of N60 = N6,000 in 2006
Whereas
N1,200 x 100 bottles = N120,000 of today .
Do the rest

May Day: Hunger, unemployment, insecurity real— Tinubu

According to him: “The theme demands our collective attention and serves as a stark reminder of the need to create an environment where every worker feels safe, valued, and empowered to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our nation. As your President, I assure you that this administration is committed to creating such an environment for the common good.”

On the economic hardship, he noted that while it is a global phenomenon, its effects on Nigerians are particularly severe.

Tinubu said: “I am aware of the peculiarities of the economic hardship Nigerians face—rising living costs, hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and the loss of livelihoods. These challenges are real and demand definitive solutions, which I am poised to address as your President.

Wrong stats!
Why do you intentionally want to deceive gullible readers with this your garbage.?

Or do you lack the ability to do a thorough research. As at 1987 rice was around 1300 naira.
Please go and review your post and make necessary corrections.
No, sir.Make your research as I have done.
A cow was around N800-N1000 then.
Even some cars were sold for N3,500,N5000 etc.Even if you have that N1300,you will get 5 good bags of rice.

According to Businessday NG, in the late 70s and early 80s, brand new Peugeot saloon cars and Volkswagen Beetles were sold for between N3,000 and N4,000, according to Businessday NG. A brand new Peugeot could be bought for around N7,000 in 1984-1985, while a Volkswagen Santana was about N3,000. Mercedes-Benz models were priced around N24,000 and Volvo around N18,000.

Cement was 700 naira in 2006. I remember the cement of 8000 I bought then was 11 and half bags and today 100,000 naira can only buy 10 bags of cement .
Confirming the fact that 100,000 naira today cannot buy cement that 8000 could buy in 2006.

Believeintruth:
The way you people twist facts ehnnn even Satan will marvel. You assume Nigerians are naive abi!! Tinubu destroyed the value of the naira by more than 500% even in black market the value of the naira plunged. The rushed subsidy removal without any plan even worsened the situation. Inflation rose by more than 300% from 2023 to 2025 far more than Buhari and GEJ.
Let's assume you know how the FX market works.

I am sure you know it is about the demand and supply of dollars. The FGN is burning its reserves of dollars at such a flow and quantity to drop the price of the dollars. Obviously, it is trying to flood the FX market with dollars so it becomes cheaper to buy. But as you see, there is a cost to it. Everyone knows that this flooding strategy fails when FGN's reserves of dollars finish.

So it is not a matter of fiat or law that the FG fixes the price of dollars. It is with dollars which could be used for something else. In other words, opportunity costs for housing, security, food security, investment, healthcare etc. Remember the principal question of economics, "how do we satisfy our unlimited wants with our limited resources."

Tinubu had to slow down the flooding strategy. it will be a shame if we return to the full measure of the strategy.

So also is 100k in 2006 cannot buy what 8k can buy in 1987.

In1990, a 50k bag of rice cost N350.

In 2006, a 50kg bag of rice in Nigeria cost ₦6,000.

In 2025,a 50k bag of rice cost N70,000.
Let us do the maths.

6000 divided by 350 gives ~ 17.

70,000 divided by 6000 gives ~ 11.6= 12(approx)

Comparing the two with the space of 16 and 19 years,Tinubu has done better because price went up 17 times in 1990 (space of 16 years to 2006) even with the fraudulent Fuel Subsidy.

In 2025,with the removal of the fraudulent Fuel Subsidy, price only went up approximately,12 times (and things are still coming down exponentially, we pray)

Kudos to President Tinubu for having got the gut to make these hard decisions that brings prosperity to Nigerians soonest..

It will get better.Nigeria was borrowing money to pay for fuel subsidy and defending fx.
When Buhari had problem borrowing,he printed 30 trillion naira, after he exhausted that, they use fuel to borrow money for 5 years.
Meanwhile,ASUU went on strike for 8 months because there was no money to pay them, workers, pensioners, doctors etc were owed money, airlines were owed $7 billion, Nigeria and states were going bankrupt and a load of other ills.
If it went on like that,it would have been worse than this and it might even end in another civil war.
A lot of people were stealing the little oil we were producing...powerful people in govt and out of govt and their cohorts.
It would be a battle for the fittest.
Now,according to FITCH ratings,Poor's ratings,World Bank,IMF...Tinubu has grown the economy (but not felt by the masses ).
Tinubu has paid off the $7billion,paid off IMF more than $3 billion he met on ground etc.

The pain we are going through is what is called transition pain that has eased than last year and it will get better.
Rome was not built in a day.
Go and write it down, before 2027,there will be prosperity for Nigerians.
The key word is a little patience.
For your information,Nigeria's fuel still remains one of the cheapest in Africa.
Previous govts tied our lives to fuel, reason any little hike in price will seem as if the world is ending.
That has stopped. Prosperity is here...soonest.

The United States of America's debt has ballooned to $36.7 trillion, and out of desperation, the U.S. Government is accepting donations from citizens to reduce its indebtedness. The United Kingdom is facing a debt crisis that has seen its budget deficit hit £20.7 billion, and its debt level is now the second highest on record. And the biggest economy in Europe, Germany, is grappling with a €118.8 billion budget deficit.

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has reduced our national debt from the $113.7 billion he inherited from General Buhari to $97.1 billion today.

This is even as he is building the two largest road infrastructure in Nigeria's history, the 1068 kilometre Illela-Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, costing ₦13 trillion, and the 750 kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, priced at ₦15 trillion.

Yes, there are still challenges here and there, but Nigeria has made significant progress under Tinubu. And the world is noticing. This is why more countries are granting Nigeria's passport visa-free access, leading to the latest Henley Passport Index upgrading Nigeria's passport from the 97th strongest under General Buhari to the 88th most powerful passport on Earth today.
Has Nigeria stopped borrowing money today ?… the borrowing spree is more or less the same

See dude let us stop this deceit. CBN is cleverly borrowing still to defend the naira, in the name of intervention. Also note you don't devalue your currency when you have dwindled reserves it is insane and messed up. When they announced the so called unification which was simply a devaluation. My Austrian colleague was shocked he said that it is insane to even think it or subject your currency that is still hedged against the dollar to now float it without any controls in place.
Even at that most economies still subsidise their currencies. China still does it till today, the same with South Africa, even Ghana does it.

Kudos to President Tinubu for having got the gut to make these hard decisions that brings prosperity to Nigerians soonest..
It is sad that you can use flawed statistics to defend rubbish. Use your model to calculate inflation and CPI between 2923 till date let's see. It's a shame
