georgee:Yea I opened a support request and they’re upgrading me to a Gen 3 free of charge. They also included the mount. 😀 I’ll have to return the old kit but I’m so happy. Looks like delivery is planned for this week too. I got a call from DHL this morning. |

ask4bk:It’s the router. It isn’t lighting up plus I am able to use the supply cable to power my laptop. |

Ournolly:It’s funny because I use an inverter, so it’s always turned on. I’m guessing because I never powered it off once except for when it reboots to install an update, it may have caused it to overheat?? Is there anyone else who doesn’t power off theirs? I want to know if I’m doing it wrong. |
| Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by Ournolly: 2:40pm On Aug 06, 2025 |
Challspace:I don't and I have never experienced overheat. This your router got damaged too by power surge despite using inverter? |
| Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by Challspace(m): 3:06pm On Aug 06, 2025 |
Ournolly:I don’t believe it was a power surge. I noticed on a few occasions in the past, connectivity will drop and then when I check the app, it says your Starlink just powered on. So it looked like it was powering off and on intermittently. It seems like something went bad in the router, maybe the power unit. And I think Starlink acknowledges that their routers, especially this Gen 2, is prone to failures like that. Probably why they don’t hesitate to send replacements. |

Challspace:Strange tho. I am using gen 2 and I've never experienced that at all. I am using power inverter too and my StarLink can be on for days without shutting it down or restarting it. |

Challspace:It must have been a faulty router from factory...just like phones...so, you will need to ask for a replacement. |

ask4bk:Ha, wouldn't it have been cheaper for you to enter Sokoto town and do the return. Even if you spend 20k to get to town, you wouldn't have had to pay 144k |
| Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by ask4bk(m): 7:28am On Aug 07, 2025 |
toluxa1:You won't understand the context. But the particular context i was in that particular time they sent the message, it'll take me a long journey to get to town, and will cost me approximately 180k for that journey to and fro, minus the stress and what it'll cost me at work. Doing my calculations, paying 144k was a far better option. As in by farrrr. |

Hi guys, I'm new here and my boss asked me to get a Starlink for my work. I do many Zoom meeting and the Nigerian network have been really embarrassing. Please, I choose to buy the Starlink mini. I see the somewhere saying they bought their mini for 300k plus. I got to their website and I'm seeing that the complete package is actually 754,300. Also is the mini easy for me to plug in and hit the ground running or i have to call someone for installation too? |

Challspace:I use an inverter that can power my starlink mini for about 15 hours and the starlink is always plug to the inverter, I don't off it, cos I don't have strength to be changing power source all the time due to the epileptic power supply in my area. ...... i have been more worried about the inverter than even the starlink , cos the inverter is always on 24hours without resting, and as for the starlink, I don't even plug the DC cable directly to the inverter, instead I insert the cable into the original starlink power adaptor then plug the adapter to the inverter, so if anything goes wrong with regard to voltage fluctuation it is the power adaptor that will be damaged and not the starlink itself |

Is it just me or is latency exceedingly high today? Can Lagos folks confirm? I’m getting slaughtered in FC25. My latency is in the 90s. |

Tolu181:I just got the tp link ax 23(ax1800) for around 80k. I have been using it with starlink mini without bypass mode until like 30mins ago when I decided to bypass it and the difference in speed is clear. |

ask4bk:I’ve always used it for gaming and it has been very good. I believe it’s cause it’s a new installation and it was just trying to settle. It’s very okay now. |

God bless Elon musk. God bless starlink I got the mini today and installed it. I've never experienced good internet in my entire life in this Nigeria. I've been streaming FHD and even watching live Europa final right now. So amazing and my mind is at rest without having to panic my data will finish. I was spending almost 60k a month on MTN and I was not satisfied I will be managing data. Chai MTN dealt with me and it will never be well with MTN. The area I live it's only MTN working i was left with no choice to be using only MTN since December last year. I'm full of joy. Thank you all on this thread that replied to my quote when I was seeking for advice getting starlink |
