@OP Why is this a suprise to you?.. it has been their way in that part of the country for a long time now. Even the Peter Obi that is coming to Lagos to deceive Yoruba people using pastors and whatnot played politics of bigotry in Anambra against Ngige, tagging the latter as Yoruba candidate so Anambra people can reject him.
These are the same people that want to be holding public offices in the South West at the detriment of Yorubas, what they will never allow in their own lands.
