Hello, guys!

It's become a norm in our societies today seeing pastors, evangelists, and upcoming Xtian brothers and sisters preaching along the roads, in the markets, in parks etc. I have also noticed that less or no individual listens to their preaching because of busy schedules.

My question is; is it really necessary? Does it serve the purpose it's intended?
What's your take on this?
Yes it does.

How else should evangelism be done?

All above mentioned are very effective

That manner of preaching only adds to the noise pollution we have in our society.

Motorists generate their own noise, shops use generators and sound system to contribute their own, preachers have to do their own.

When John the Baptist decided to raise his voice, he made sure he relocated to the wilderness before he started shouting. But you know the Nigerian mentality that whoever speaks in a low tone is unserious. That is why an average Nigerian shouts in order to make a point. Even when they are praying to God, they will be shouting as if God is deaf. This doesn't apply to only the misguided Christians. The people hawking roots and herbs and other items also shout. This is to tell you that it is a Nigerian thing.
There are street preachers everywhere, UK, o, US, o, Canada, everywhere.

Wetin be Nigerian Mentality?

Please stop.putting down your society, there's little wrong with us outside our greedy, stupid politicians.

A lot. Those are the type of messages that minister to the unexpected.

What does the bible say?

Acts 22: 15
For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard.

Mattew 24: 14
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Acts 1: 8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

The goal of preaching the gospel is to witness. The role of man is to accept or reject the message. Shalom!

The people who are aggigated by the preaching are the ones who will first say it has no impact.

Open preaching is worth doing when I was doing it many came giving their very life and started living Christlike life you may not know but people are being helped out of sinful life on daily basis,as long as the intention is righteousness we need more people to do that

Yes, they can only plant the seeds, but only God give increase.

Yes it works.

When a farmer go out to sow seed, he doesn't have the crystal ball to determine which seed will germinate best.

Just go out n preach..worry less about impact

It's a lie roadside preaching can never be fruitful because it's not done the way Jesus commissioned the work!

Jesus' disciples were commanded to go making disciples {Matthew 28:19} this means anyone who is converted must also become a preacher who joins the group in the preaching and teaching work.

So if anyone tells you he or she became a Christian through roadside preaching such a person is LYING! embarassed

It seems you live in a place where roadside preaching is not practiced.
Anyway I was hoping you will share a testimony, yours or someone else's to inspire us on the power of roadside preaching.

Yes.

Everyone must hear the gospel as a witness unto every soul
Re: Do Roadside, Motor Park, And Street Preaching Really Impact? by malaria(f): 10:42am On Aug 10, 2025
The best form.of preaching and conversion of souls is on one's character..if you say you are a Christian, let it reflect in the way you treat people. Treating people right is better than quoting bible verses that are not practised.
Re: Do Roadside, Motor Park, And Street Preaching Really Impact? by Truvelisback(m): 10:45am On Aug 10, 2025
Yes, it does. However, it depends on the preacher and his/her message.

It has o, I was once preaching beside fidelity bank, not knowing that the security man was following and listening to my preaching, he was really touched that he came closed to me, I wanted to be afraid, I summoned courage and continue with the preaching, after the preaching, he came to me that he was highly blessed and gave me money.

MaxInDHouse:
They are misinformed churchgoers!

Preaching in Bible times was two types?

First was the preaching God's prophets did before our common era (b.c.e) back then the nation of Israel had two Kings the first is their God who brought them out of Egypt and conquered all inhabitants of Canaan for His worshipers to inherit the place this King is a Spirit who lives forever the other kings were humans that Israelites later demanded for themselves! 1Samuel 8:6-7
Their real King (God) has the right to send town criers (prophets) to deliver urgent messages or warnings to them so this prophets (town criers) can stand in any of their streets or cities to deliver the message of their God (King) at any time.
But in our common era (c.e) things have changed a lot the Israelites had turned against their God (King) countless times {Matthew 21:43} so this King or God no longer send town criers (prophets) to enter into their streets shouting.
WHY? Because by the time Jesus walked the earth another nation out of several nations that's been ruling over Israelites is in charge of their public affairs so it is inappropriate for any town crier (prophet) to enter the streets shouting in the name of any God as their rulers may take such as disturbing the peace in their domain that's the reason why God did not send John the baptist into their towns or streets when it's time for this prophet to declare the coming of Christ rather this prophet was shouting in the wilderness! Matthew 3:1
So it was in the wilderness that faithful Jews were going to meet this prophet to know the message their God had for them! Matthew 3:5-6

After Jesus (a carpenter) got baptized by John it was revealed to John that this is the Christ that John came to prepare the way for {John 1:33} so Jesus took over the job from John the baptist and from that moment John began receiving less attention while Jesus started getting more {John 3:25-30} that was how Jesus began preaching and teaching and all the people were going to him.

QUESTION!
Was Jesus shouting in the streets?
ANSWER!
NO!
He first gathered his trusted childhood friends and started going from house to house preaching and the theme of his preaching is the same as that of John the baptist {Matthew 3:2; 4:17} but instead of shouting in the wilderness he approaches doors and greets householders before delivering his speech this reminded his disciples of what has been foretold about the Christ:

Look! My servant, whom I support! My chosen one, whom I have approved! I have put my spirit in him; He will bring justice to the nations.  He will not cry out or raise his voice, And he will not make his voice heard in the street. No crushed reed will he break, And no smoldering wick will he extinguish. In faithfulness he will bring justice. He will not grow dim or be crushed until he establishes justice in the earth; And the islands keep waiting for his law. Isaiah 42:1-4 compare to Matthew 12:19
So Jesus commissioned the preaching and teaching of God's Kingdom message from house to house and door to door so that his real disciples don't disturb passersby with noise. They are to go and knock people's doors, greet householders and ask for permission to speak before delivering their messages! Matthew 10:11-13
Do you know a religion whose preaching and teaching activities is the same as this today?
God bless you and may you have Peace! smiley

Yes, street preaching do have impact. The message is just to sow the seed in the lives of those who are yet to believe and also encourage believers as well.
Street preaching is done overseas too.
Wishing you all a blessed week.

If I have my way I will lock them up, it's noise pollution.

2wks ago one early morning preacher woke me up from sleep at about 4:30am.....I was shocked after I checked my time, I haven't seen anyone come out that early before.

And come to think of it, no one cares to listens and they know.
many people have been saved through that system of message to the kingdom. Though it adds to noise pollution in the streets and might be unnecessary even to me. But I'm only countering u on the idea that seems nobody listen, people listen but it might be 1or two or few people that message touched and the few might not even act like they cares for it.
To the preacher, I think he's only doing what Jesus commanded us whether somebody listen or not. Matt 28:19

"I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and from teaching you publicly and from house to house."

Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hand be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well

"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase"

Sweet response to that fellow who thinks interpretation of the Bible and what the Bible is all about reach as far as him and his religious organization called Jehovah's witnesses.

You see the long winding explanation to support his own beliefs and denigrate what others do. He picked Bible verse that support his ideology and abandoned the rest grin cheesy cheesy cheesy

Just imagine the below.......

Was Jesus shouting in the streets?
ANSWER!
NO!
To discredit preaching publicly he said Jesus was not shouting publicly grin cheesy grin cheesy but look at what the same Jesus said.....

What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops
.

You begin to imagine how do you proclaim from housetops quietly if not by raising your voice grin cheesy cheesy cheesy

Dem just sabi advance fraud, lie and manipulate scriptures to suit agenda not backed up by their Bible grin cheesy cheesy cheesy
