Are you allowed to renew passports beyond 6months validity ? I don’t think so, passports are still currently valid for 11months and by december then we have 6months left, we may put the travelling dates forward maybe November or first week in december.
If not because of the crazy waiting time, our intention is to travel by September for a week but with the crazy waiting times that is not going to be possible.
Yes, you can renew it.

Please, do you know anyone here, who submitted an Appeal this year to the Embassy of Ireland, Abuja and got a feedback?

If yes; how long did it take?

Did you get a mail on the appeal decision?

Mine is Employment Visa
Appealed a visit visa took 8 weeks. Yes they explained reason for refusal. They really do pick very tiny things and reason for deny on appeal was not mentioned on original refusal.

Thank you. I received a message from VFS that my passport has been dispatched exactly after 7 weeks of submission. Will share the good news when received tomorrow.

At 7 weeks, yours is somehow faster than that of many folks. My brother did biometrics on May 9, and the embassy received his application on May 13. Till now he hasn't received any updates.

Also, the date he was supposed to travel as specified on his application has passed; that was on August 8.

When did you do your biometrics?

The Irish embassy doesn't send email to applicants as per the outcome of their visa application; however, you can check the weekly decision published by the embassy each week to find out if your application is approved.

https://www.ireland.ie/en/nigeria/abuja/services/visas/weekly-decision-reports/

Click on the Abuja visa decision, then check for your application number.

I know this can be tiring, but you have to keep checking everyday. They will publish it whenever they have appointment slots available for applicants to pick from.

The processing of your visa is faster. My brother did biometrics since May 9, and his application is yet to be processed.

He contacted the embassy last week. They responded that his application is currently on the queue for processing.

Don’t buy travel insurance policy @VFS office. It’s expensive to get it through them.

You can get insurance policy for less cheaper when you buy it online through any of the insurance companies.

Buying travel insurance policy in Nigeria.
All you need to do is visit any of their websites to buy travel insurance. You don’t need an agent or anyone else to buy travel insurance.

travel insurance is cheap in Nigeria. The price you pay depends on the company you get it from. You can visit multiple insurance company websites and then compare prices.

I always go for the cheapest because it doesn't matter which company you buy it from.

You can get travel insurance that will cover a 7-day trip for as little as 3,200 naira, a 10-day trip for about 4500 naira, or less than 9000 naira for one month of travel insurance.

Buy it online from any of the insurance companies. You don’t need anyone or agent before you can buy travel insurance.

When no one comes back to update, that is a sign that the majority of applicants are refused.

The Irish embassy is very strict with their visitor visa, especially for someone with no prior travel history.

If you are trying to book using your phone try on a laptop and also try using different browsers. I had many issues trying to book vis phone. Also needs good Internet.
