Every video, blog, car manufacturers etc always advise against the use of 20w50 oil. Can anybody enlighten me about why manufacturers still produce those oil types?

Why don't the big oil producers leave the generator oil business for "Amasco" and focus on making oil that is recommended. I mean it should be used more, right?

For every toks car and replaced engine
It's always good to break in with mineral oil for at least a month plus b4 flushing n then adding the required oil. If u rush to pour either ow20 5w20.5w30..etc. e go smoke las las.
I've used road side oil to wash my uncles highlander engine. We bought 3litres 5k.
Diesel 1k.poured 2litres.with 1 liter.
1st drain... black oil
2nd drain..light black
3rd drain goldish black
4th drain .clean .
5th time. We poured in 5w30.

Everything no be ringing
Buy cos mechanics are poor n wanna spoil your car.theyd do a shabby job
No borescope
No guage
No valve spring torque quage
Nothing.

Nigeria is a dead place.

What i meant was. If u just got the car..after draining the follow come oil.use mineral oil for likr 3 weeks if ubdey drive the car everyday..then after that use engine flush.then apply the oil cap requirement direct. If na 0w20...5w 20..etc. no go buy fake oil o. Cos now fake oils are everywhwre. Id advice u buy it in 1 liter ...or if u can s33 can 1liter.buy up to 6 or 7 once.fake oils are everywhere.from total to mobil..they are all selling fakes.nigeria is already a dead place. I saw a mofoka selling vulture meat on facebook yesterday.u can imagine vulture meat.which ks poison to the body...but when dem grill am.u go call am suya

I was advised to just do normal servicing, drainage the follow come oil and use the new oil.

Secondly, is it advisable to use same 0w 20 here in Naija, i heard it's meant for USA weather

If its whats the engine oil needs for the car..but to me e too light and e go quickly dry out when naija heat start,with heat from engine bay,heat from road..u can start with it and observe if it drops every 3days or 2days b4 u decide to upgrade the oil...use highger viscosity oil.if not your engine go knock out of no oil.if u like listen to the others who would want to counter me.they will be praying make u come dia shop.so dem go chop u then scatter yoir engine. Nigeria climate wont tolerate such oil.it will thin out fast and knock.

Secondly, is it likely you can get fake oil from mobil filling?

Answer me na, I'm a first time car owner that's why I'm asking not to make mistakes.

Follow my lead and u can never go wrong. Dont allow any mofoka make u digress.they are after your money and would want u to come tondia shop so they will acatter your engine and car 4u. 1stly equip yourself with youtube....get a personal obd scanner.the type thay uses wire connected to the cars obd port under steering.
Dont use that oil. Its for america and not nigeria.
Climate change is diff here in naija. U couldnuse it and be feeling funky that nothing go sup .e go shock u say after 2 months,the engine oil fit remain only 3 % and gboom.your oil pump gwts starved and gbooah. Engine go knock.that wud be the beginning of your problem. Go for higher viscocity.start from 10w30 or 10w 40. Also whats the mileage.it wud def be a high mileage car with rolled back odometer to fool us here. Search for the vin of the car 1st online and get back to me with the mileage .if its above 100k.then zero ypur mind from that useless pure water like 0w20 oil.

Zero your mind from that oil. Start with 10w40. And watch the level after 3 to5 days. Also note that our petrol is madly bad.our petrol now is like drinking water mixed with lime.its acidic n bad. So over time your engine will gather carbon on piston crown..valves....plugs.... as u dey buy half tank.dey add fuel additives. Your engine na better high mileage engine.almost close to its last leg

Just generally curious. No particular car but, all cars from 2005 to date

cos that oil is not meant for our every day cars, everyday cars on the road is either 5W30 or 10 W 40 etc
that 20 is a big number

So why is it still being produced by manufacturers. Matter of fact shouldn't Nigeria ban the oil?
