The VO would not ask such question, but you will put your application in doubt if your plan is to stay for 3 weeks and you applied for an F2 visa.
B1/B2 Visa is the correct visa.

Evening every one, plsease if vo asked F2 applicant why not apply for b1/b2 since she will be spending 3weeks...what is the best anwser

The consulate discourages applicants from emailing for updates until 60 days. I'm on 54 days now.

I'd say applying for F2 allows you to see your spouse regularly since the current visit visa is now 3months and single entry.

Evening Chemist.
If you are looking for excuse to stick to F2-visa then an answer like :

1. My present employer extended my employment duration with salary increment or a long time multi -million Naira contract you and your team have been hoping for just materialized during the time of the F1/F2 visa process hence , it is likely you join your partner at the end of the contract , meanwhile B1/B2 wil not accord me that opportunity.

2. F2 visa is the natural visa for me to apply for as the partner of the f1 because I may likely join my partner the moment I finish the various activities I needed to finish in Nigeria .

3. Or I am still undecided if I want to join my partner finally hence, I only want to visit him once and decide if I will change to B2 (visitor) in my subsequent visits.

Those are few excuses that will sound reasonable to any consular if you are applying for F2 visa with the intention to visit and not to join your spouse. 👍

Poormanpikin:
Thank you, sir. My department doesn't typically award As, let alone first-class honors. Since this university's establishment, departments like English, Linguistics, and Political Science have never graduated students with first-class honors, not because there aren't deserving students, but because the department tends to be stingy with high grades. My brother, who merited a first-class degree in Political Science, graduated with a 4.44/5. I deserve a first-class degree, but I know it's impossible (based on departmental trends, not pessimism). Currently, my CGPA is 4.78/5, but I'm uncertain about getting a first-class degree.

Regarding publishing articles, I'm working on a paper about sentence patterns (SV, SVO, SVC, SVOA, etc.), and my next paper will focus on sentence structure using Noam Chomsky's tree diagram. You can still publish now, and it's not too late. In my department, publishjng a paper costs 30k. If focusing on literature and publishing a book is too expensive, you can publish a paper analyzing central themes or characters in a particular book(novel, novella, short story, play or poetry) and link it to a writing career in your SOP. Publishing is still an option, even for non-students and non-lecturers. I mean you can still publish even though you're not a student.

Don't fret; most English departments in US universities don't require a first-class degree, publications, or test scores(not required). In fact, your writing sample is just as important as your CGPA – these two are the most crucial aspects of your application. If you're focusing on Literature, an MFA (3 years) might be your best bet, and you'll need to submit a writing sample (prose fiction or poetry). For a PhD, the focus is often on language, and you'll need to submit a scholarly critical writing sample (an unpublished paper). If writing proves challenging, I'd be happy to help. Good luck with your applications!

@kimpoyo13 was right. That is the official rules stipulated by the U.S embassy. The person who posted experience did not post evidence of it . Even if the person posted the evidences then, that means the embassy broke their own rules.. 👍

You want to take a loan of 100k? Please abort that mission. First of all, Mpower will not give you a loan of more than 50k usd per annum, and I don't think Prodigy too will, besides there is no loan company that will give you a loan of 100k usd because they would be skeptical about you paying them back. Secondly, are you aware that you would be paying the interest of that loan at a higher rate all through school? If you collect a loan of 100k, you can be paying an interest of up to 1500 to 2000 usd per month. Remember that you will still need to feed, pay your rent, and utilities, and other miscellaneous. So how do you want to cope. Lest you forget, even if you are lucky to get a job in a fortune 500 company, the way America is designed, you might not be able to pay that loan off in the next 30years of your life. Do you want that life?. Now to my advise, relax and calm down. Admission process isnt something you can rush. Find schools that can pay up to 50 to 60% of your tuition, and even if you would be taking out a loan, it would be very very little. Its not compulsory to go to an ivy league, it would only plunge you into debt.Check out affordable but not low ranked business schools and get your degree there, it doesn't stop you from getting fantastic jobs. Companies prefer candidates who have great minds and can solve problems. They wont eat the name of your school either you are from MIT or Harvard. There are tons of testimonies out there about people who went to affordable schools for their business degrees and got their dream jobs. It's not worth it if you finish your degree in a year, and get plunged into debts and you start having sleepless nights. It would only be worth it if at the end of your degree, you get your salary and have left overs comfortably without getting worried about debts. Think about your family too, they need you to help them out at home. Note that this advise is not to condemn or discourage you, its from a heart of positivity and resilience. It's from someone who was in your shoes 2 years ago, but went back to re-examine everything and finally got a fully funded scholarship later to study. I wish you all the best bro.
MPower gives more than $50k USD. I know someone who got $72k USD however, she was already in the US and it is for a one year STEM OPT course. The bad side is that the interest rate is killing. She pays almost $1100 monthly with about $850 going into interest and she has to pay for almost 14years. I have advised she starts paying down on the principal whenever she can. At this time, it is not too advisable considering the job market isn't as good as it was a few years ago however, if the person feels s/he wants to, then s/he could give it a try. I would advice a lower fees school and possibility of funding if possible.

Guys why is my schedule and reschedule buttons all greyed out.

I was able to get a far day through a call centre agent but I can't use any of the buttons from my end.

I have tried everything they suggested including changing browser, changing the centre in DS 160 etc, to no avail.

Any useful suggestion will be appreciated.

No call center can get you a date automatically without you using your physical hand to navigate the reschedule button. Automatic reschedule was possible during CGI era but not possible now. Even the U. S embassy must notify you via email to reschedule an appointment yourself if need be (in the case of public holiday).

Your Schedule & Reschedule options can be greyed out or disappear if you have missed your initial appointment (marked as absent). Or if you submitted IW with OIS or appear physical interview and later placed on 221g (Administrative Processing).

Any of the above or whatever reason, you have to follow official communication in order for it to be rectified. Those who missed initial appointment does not have much hope than to go and purchase another visa fee (MRV). No call agent or call centers can schedule your appointment without the physical reschedule option appearing in your AVITS profile. 👍

Your query contain zero information, so any answer you will be getting will be based on generalization. 1. Are you for Bsc, Msc or PhD ? 2. Are you looking for funding or not ? 3. Summary of your academic standings ie CGPA? 4. What course are you going for ? Are you applying alone ?

Look at the whole information you are missing and you want the best guidance 👆

Anyways, go back and start reading from page 1. This present page is page 205. By the time you get to page 100 you would have grasp a better info.

Hi,

Is it advisable to use loan manager like Mpowerfinancing to fund your admission to a US schools? And can you declare that to VO.
If yes, are there risks in declaring that.

Hi.
There is nothing wrong in using any loan manager to proof POF. The only and major brick wall is proving the repayment ability to the visa officer without leaving any doubt and with evidence (s).

If you can jump that hurdle 👆 then go ahead. 👍

Hi everyone, I just got my H1B petition approved and I’m planning to travel to Nigeria for my H1B stamping. I’ve completed the DS-160 form and have my confirmation number.

When I went to usvisaappt.com to schedule my appointment, I couldn’t proceed because one of the tabs kept showing a “This is a required field” error. I’ve double-checked all fields, and everything seems fine. I even tried creating a new DS-160, but the same issue came up.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how were you able to resolve it?

(Ps: I know this is a student visa page but I think this is same process for all non immigrant applications)

Evening.
Nobody can command or compel you with your life decisions. So the decision to defer your admission lies with your instincts.

In the case of deferment, your I -20 sevis number/ID is likely going to be changed and you must fill another DS- 160 in order to update the new resumption date and other new information. There is nothing to worry about if you want to defer your admission. All you have to do is just fill another DS-160 and update it. 👍
Sir can I message you here or Privately . I just need clarification

It will be illogical to say all F1 visa applicants will end with AP. If this reasoning is put in operation then all F1 visa applicant must arrive late to school, their f1 visa processing will take longer and there will be lot of backlogs in which there will be a gap-year which the
U.S embassies will not take in F1 visa applications in order to clear the awaiting APs..

Ipso facto, I don't want to believe that 40% of Nigerians are on Nairaland , therefore we should not be judging an individual applicant experience as a specimen for all applicants in Nigerian .

The majority of AP I have personally seen are for Phds and their AP is not because of Social Media verification. Few of the BSC and Msc I have seen were those who listed social medias but did not open their privacy settings to PUBLIC. Those who indicated social medias and open their privacy settings in the beginning of their applications does not necessarily have to be place on AP except for other background checks.

In summary: AP is not compulsory for all F1 visa applicants. I have seen few applicants who did not list social medias. Social media verification is done in few minutes by Computer (automatic or Artificial Intelligence method) and you will only be placed on compulsory AP if the computer red-alert you.

PS: This is my personal research so far from related applicant experiences, reliable sources information and my common sense. IT IS NOT OFFICIAL. 👍
